Ogie Alcasid made one of the rare, unforgettable appearances on TV with daughter Leila in an interview on Magandang Buhay on Wednesday, March 4, revealing his evolving relationship with his eldest child with ex-wife Michelle van Eimeren.

Saying he had only become hands-on in overseeing Leila when she moved to the Philippines when she was 19, Ogie admitted being strict in his fatherly duties, such as giving her a curfew or screening would-be suitors, during the first two years she was here.

But he would eventually loosen his grip, and even allow her to have a boyfriend.

“Twenty two na siya eh. So ‘di naman pwedeng baby pa rin ang turing ko sa kanya. I want to give (Leila) her own wings. Pero nandoon din siguro ‘yung pagpapaalala.”

Leila reveals there are some “rules” that remain, such as having no sleepovers outside of home and getting home at a “decent time.”

Ogie also reveals Leila’s boyfriend Mito, who he describes as responsible, would spend time at their house, playing PS4 games with him and even seeking his advice on career and business.

Leila shares her dad would always guide her in affairs concerning work, like being on time and being professional, to her “adulting” concerns such as budgeting personal expenses and paying bills. He would also advise her matters concerning relationships.

Leila says she is very happy with his loving relationship with her dad and her Tita Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, who has been an endearing second mom to her.
