For the past 14 years, the It’s Showtime family has just didn’t fail to bring laughter and entertainment to the madlang people through their onstage shenanigans, but to also continuously grow. Aside from the new additions to the lineup of hosts that either stayed or left, there were also Kapamilya celebrities who were tapped to serve as guest co-hosts for a day or more.
And recently, fans of Kyle Echarri and Darren Espanto were surely thrilled when the two Gen Z superstars joined the well-loved noontime show for a week due to the absence of main hosts Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario due to their other work commitments. As Vice Ganda quipped at her co-hosts to take their time in resting and regaining their physical vigor until it keeps up with their burning passion in hosting, she enthusiastically introduced Kyle and Darren as the “New Breed of Showtimers.”
Even though their stints were quite short, Kyle and Darren were able to have a bunch of amusing moments that would certainly make you laugh.
First off was when they were both caught off guard with what the Unkabogable Star said about their coach in The Voice Kids, the reality singing competition from which both of them came from. They giggled and corrected her by saying that it’s Sarah Geronimo.
It was also on that same moment when she teased Kyle regarding his “low energy” in speaking. Darren told his friend to just repeat it with higher energy, so that they could come back the following day.
Aside from hosting, their dancing talents were also put to the test immediately on their first day as both of them served as back-up dancers for a “Mini Miss U” contestant.
Darren then had everyone entertained when he made an awesome impersonation of Gary Valenciano and Erik Santos during an episode of Tawag ng Tanghalan, as prompted by Vice. The King of Teleserye Theme Songs, who was there as one of the hurados, couldn’t help himself from tittering, too.
Kyle’s barong uniform that day also wasn’t able to escape the eagle eyes of Vice, who playfully called him out for it. Later that episode, she jokingly begged Vhong and Jhong to immediately comeback after Kyle stuttered while congratulating TNT defending champion Norman Saturnino and declaring his winnings.
In an episode of “Isip Bata,” the Unkabogable Star once again gauged Darren’s vocal prowess as he told him to do the ambulance sound “woo-woo” in various versions – RnB, ballad, Gary Valenciano, and Erik Santos – much to the amusement of everyone, especially Vice who yelled, “Ang galing no’ng Darren, i-regular na ‘yan!”
And lastly, Vice once again poked fun at Kyle as she imitated the way delivered his spiels in another TNT episode.
Do you wish to see Darren and Kyle again on It’s Showtime? Well, let’s see if they are going to be back by not missing an episode of the noontime show, Mondays to Saturdays on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z.
