They may have been working for 15 years together as three of the pioneer hosts of “It’s Showtime,” but did you know that it was only the first time for Anne Curtis, Jugs Jugueta, and Teddy Corpuz to collaborate in a Magpasikat number? And we got to witness it on Thursday, October 24, the exact “birthday” of the well-loved noontime show!
Team AJT incorporated kinetic color-changing LED balls in their production number as they symbolized the “core memories” made by the “It’s Showtime” family and the madlang people through the years. The constellation of lights, which were attached to the ceiling of the studio, indeed exuded fascinating effects throughout their performance.
The presentation commenced with an ensemble of dancers dancing to the flickering yellow, red, and orange lights of the dim stage. Anne was the first one to take on the stage in her ravishing red dress and captivated us with her graceful grooves that synced with the lights’ movements and changes in color. She ended her set by holding a luminous sphere lamp.
Jugs and Teddy then showed off a bit of their dancing chops during their act, in which they also had to ride in rocking curved metal frames and balance themselves. They finished their set by playing their electric guitars, exhibiting their facets as rockstars. As they left, the duo gave the floor to “nation’s girl group,” BINI, whom they released from a huge LED sphere, much to the exhilaration of everyone.
BINI, who were dressed in shiny silver numbers, began their performance with their mellow hit track “Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi” and proceeded to get us grooving to their upbeat song “I Feel Good.” Anne made the whole place shimmer in her mirror dress as she went back onstage to join BINI in singing the rap part. Jugs and Teddy were also cladded in ensembles encrusted with mirror shards when they reappeared onstage to join BINI and Anne in dancing to “I Feel Good.”
The first half of Team AJT's Magpasikat 2024 number capped off with the trio passing on the glowing sphere lamp to 11 solid Showtimers, a mix of avid viewers and the program staff and crew, who shared one-by-one the core memories they’ve formed through the years with show.
Of course, what’s a Magpasikat celebration without Anne doing daring stunts in her number, right? It might not be as ‘buwis-buhay’ as before, but she still enthralled us with her breathtaking stunts in the suspended diamond metal frame. Teddy and Jugs returned to the stage with their guitars as they started singing their upbeat original composition that talked about the journey of “It’s Showtime.”
It was not only BINI who had a special participation in the concert-level performance but the spectators in the studio as well, as they were seen holding and swaying sphere lamps, too. Team AJT officially concluded their extravaganza by requesting their co-hosts to come up onstage for their traditional group hug.
As they shied away from the dramatic and tear-jerking themes of the groups prior to them, the trio’s first-ever Magpasikat 2024 collaboration garnered positive feedback from madlang netizens on X (formerly Twitter). Here are some of them:
Spectators may have various interpretations of their Magpasikat 2024 performance, but Anne, Jugs, and Teddy apparently incorporated several symbolisms to it that are related to the journey of the “It’s Showtime” family—from their props and stage design to their well-executed acts.
Obviously, the kinetic LED lights represented their core memories that involved different emotions, while the luminous sphere lamps seemingly signified the “glimmers” or the moments that give them joy and hope. Their encrusted mirror ensembles, on the other hand, were revealed to represent their 15th anniversary, or the so-called "crystal anniversary."
Anne’s opening dance act apparently signified the first few years of “It’s Showtime.” Their transition into becoming ABS-CBN’s official noontime program might be slow, but here they are, making people happy.
Jugs and Teddy’s set, meanwhile, seemed to represent the rocky periods of the show. Solid Showtimers are certainly aware of the various controversies, challenges, and setbacks that they have gone through. Fortunately, the “It’s Showtime” family was strong, tightly bonded, and resilient, so they’re able to get through all of those together.
The set of BINI apparently represented the new era of the noontime program after the ABS-CBN shutdown in 2020. It was also the same year when the final lineup of the “nation’s girl group” was formally introduced and their pre-debut single, “Da Coconut Nut,” was released. And guess where they had their first-ever live performance? Yes, on “It’s Showtime”!
True-blue Showtimers and Blooms certainly know all too well that the journeys of “It’s Showtime” and BINI have been filled with ups and downs. But they’ve remained steadfast, solid, and optimistic, which they’re able to convey to the people watching them.
So, if the team of Anne, Jugs, and Teddy has one important wish for their “It’s Showtime” family and the madlang people, it would be, "’Wag kang bibitiw. Kapit lang nang mahigpit. Sama-sama tayo hanggang dulo."
Team AJT’s performance is clearly an epitome of what the show really is: vibrantly amusing with a heart.
And we’re now down to the last Magpasikat 2024 performance! Catch the collaboration of Jhong Hilario, Jackie Gonzaga, and Cianne Dominguez by watching this Friday’s episode of “It’s Showtime” at noontime on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, GMA 7, and GTV.
