“Team KAK,” spearheaded by Karylle, Amy Perez, and Kim Chiu, is apparently still on a high after being hailed as the grand champion for this year’s edition of t’s Showtime’s Magpasikat. And in this episode of Showtime All-Access, Kim and Tyang Amy reminisced their unforgettable journey in putting up their literally and figuratively #FireTheWin production number.
The two commenced their chikahan by imparting how they used to be frustrated at some point of their preparations as the ABS-CBN Safety Department initially did not allow them to use their fire props inside the studio during the live show. But that instantly switched to joy when the safety officers eventually approved Kim’s performance that involved dancing while cladded in a skirt with scorching hem.
“All the stress was super worth it. Medyo pinakaba lang kami ng pagkakataon na hindi raw maaprubahan ang fire namin. Paano na ang hashtag #FireTheWin kung walang fire, e ‘di hindi kami magwi-win?” the Chinita Princess expressed. Amy added that they simply just lift everything up to God, yet He still gave them the opportunity to execute their production number the way they conceptualized it.
They went on to watch their winning performance and imparted their reactions and some trivia about it. The two disclosed that both of them were surprised to hear Anne Curtis do the voice-over for their VTRs since she was still in vacation with her family, but Karylle was able to make it possible.
Amy and Kim then praised their teammate Karylle for her heartfelt singing of her self-composed song “Kababaihan,” as well as their director John Mol for the seamless inclusion of Karylle’s pre-recorded segment. They also went in to reveal how Kim’s drums number almost didn’t push through because of the technical problems they encountered during their dress rehearsals.
Kim then applauded Amy for a job well done during the color guard flag dance break with her as the one leading the group of dancers, and gave the whole Team KAK a resounding “good job.” This made her further realize that victory is indeed sweeter if you work hard and exert all your best to it.
When asked how they felt upon being proclaimed as the winners, they revealed that they only wished for them to not place last, but any ranking would do. Because of their well-deserved success, Tyang Amy shared that Kim actually organized a raffle for the production staff and crew that made their Magpasikat number possible and successful.
