In the past 13 years of It’s Showtime, it has been their tradition to celebrate their anniversaries by treating the madlang people with various awesome performances that showcase the creativity, wit, and talent of the hosts and the celebrities they feature for an entire week, aptly called the Magpasikat week.
And after reducing it to one day in the past two years because of the pandemic restrictions, the much-awaited annual event is finally back this 2022 as the program marks its 13th anniversary. Just like in its previous stagings, the hosts were divided into five teams and one group would perform for each day. For this year, the groups were Team Anne-Jackie-Ion, Team Jhong-Ryan, Team Jugs-Teddy-Kim, Team Vice-Amy, and Team Karylle-Ogie.
Now that we have already witnessed all the performances and are looking forward on which team will be hailed as the winner, let us find out first which among the five entries captivated the madlang people the most by voting for them in this Kapamilya Poll!
To help you decide, let’s take a recap of the five performances below:
After taking a hiatus from the noontime program for two years to focus on her family, Anne Curtis made sure that her Magpasikat comeback would be remarkable and would touch the hearts of the madlang people. Drawing inspiration from her own experience as a mom, they came up with a bedtime story-inspired number wherein she once again wowed us with her signature buwis-buhay stunts along with her teammates Jackie and Ion.
Those who have been watching It’s Showtime since Day 1 would know that both Jhong Hilario and Ryan Bang started their journey in the show as hurados, until they were absorbed to become its hosts. That was also when their friendship started, which inspired then to execute a production that highlights the connection between Korean and Filipinos. Aside from showing the tourist destinations and culture and traditions of South Korea and Philippines, they also paid tribute to the Pinoy veterans of the Korean War, in which the ties of the two countries bloomed.
Avid It’s Showtime viewers are well-aware that the tandem of Jugs Jugueta and Teddy Corpuz is the winningest of them all. The out-of-the-box concepts that they incorporated in their previous Magpasikat productions indeed amazed us. And since both of them are musicians and vocalists of two of the most popular bands in the country – The Itchyworms and Rocksteddy – they gave us a mini OPM concert experience by inviting the young bloods and icons of OPM pop-rock to perform with them. They also made their teammate experience how it feels to be a rakista even just for a day.
He may be a talented comedian, but Vice Ganda also knows how to move the madlang people through his team’s evocative and inspiring Magpasikat perfromances. And for this year, he and Amy Perez paid homage to the laborers and differently-abled persons, who use their hands to provide for their family, run the economy, and inspire other people, through dumbfounding and impressive song and dance numbers. As the society tend to overlook, underestimate, or discriminate them, they put the spotlight on them this time.
Last, but definitely not the least, is the team of Karylle and Ogie Alcasid, who delighted us with the vibrant, retro-inspired musical titled “Dito Sa Puso Ko”. They used the timeless and legendary hits of Ogie through the years to tell a love story that aims to restore our faith in forever and happy endings.
So, cast in your votes and find out if you share the same choice with other Kapamilyas!
