Since he rose to stardom in the 1990s, Vhong Navarro has already captivated our hearts. From being one of the members of the well-known Pinoy all-male dance troupe Streetboys, he also jumpstarted his career as an actor and comedian and since then appeared and headlined innumerable television shows and movies. He currently makes our noontime filled with good vibes through his humorous jokes and hilarious banters with fellow It’s Showtime hosts.
He’s indeed a funnyman on the screen and remains the same when it comes to his family, but what we don’t often see off-cam is how a doting and awesome father he is to his two kids – Fredriek and Yce.
Definitely, Vhong is a cool dad and here are seven reasons why:
1. He treats them as friends
In their guesting in the morning show Magandang Buhay, Vhong revealed that he doesn’t see the boys as his children anymore, but more like friends. He admitted that he wasn’t able to be with them round the clock during their younger years due to work and getting along with them now that they are grown-ups is his way of making up with his past misgivings. His sons feel the same way too as Yce imparted that their dad talk to them like a barkada when it comes to matters of the heart.
2. He gives them love advice
Aside from a great provider and unwavering supporter, he is also a brilliant counselor to them when it comes to life and love. Although they don’t usually open up when it comes to their romantic lives, Vhong enthusiastically shared that he accidentally knew about those as they subconsciously confessed.
Wise words indeed, Vhong!
3. He works hard for them
There’s nothing cooler than parents who does everything for their children.
With his admission of being a late bloomer dad, the It’s Showtime host imparted that he’s so apologetic for not being with Fredriek and Yce while they were growing up because of his hectic schedules.
“Late bloomer ako naging tatay. So parang masyado na silang malaki, nasa tamang edad nang maging super close kami. Kasi masyado kong inuna that time ang trabaho and weekend ko lang sila nakikita that time e. Parang gusto ko na meron akong patunayan sa kanila, ang ginagawa ko para sa kanila, para sa pamilya ko kasi breadwinner ako. Kumbaga marami akong tinutulungan sa pamilya ko at gusto ko maging proud sila as akin,” he explained.
4. He’s admirable as a multi-faceted artist
Who would not feel proud and deem of their dad as awesome for juggling a lot of roles as an artist?
Vhong has made us laugh as a comedic genius and cry with his heartwarming portrayals. Aside from exhibiting his captivating stunts and dance moves he popularized, he also got us LSS and bopping at the same time with the novelty songs he released (Remember Pamela One and Totoy Bibo?). Plus, he’s a brand ambassador of several products as well. Aren’t these so cool?
5. They share the same taste in fashion
By looking at their snapshots together, who would have thought that the guys are actually father and sons? At 40, the comedian can still ace the #OOTD game as he rocks the street-style and boy-next-door vibe with his outfits, which boys as young as his two sons usually don. Young tayo, e!
6. They have the same interests
As we take a peek on their Instagram accounts, it’s obvious that aside from good looks, the younger Navarros also brandish a Don Romantico flair and a comical nature like their dad. They also enjoy going on trips and hanging out with their family, friends, and pet dogs. Of course, they have the same penchant in shoes!
7. They all can dance!
It's no surprise that Yce and Fredriek have inherited Vhong’s breathtaking dance moves. In one of his production numbers on It's Showtime, Vhong surprised the audiences by taking the stage with his kids in a dance number. Indeed, there's no denying how much they took that awesome gift from their coolest dad!
Aren’t these enough reasons for Vhong not to be an ultimate #DaddyGoal?
