Vhong Navarro touched viewers with a meaningful interpretative number on overcoming loneliness as his entry for this year’s Magpasikat on It’s Showtime.
Known for amazing and eye-popping performances each year, Vhong didn’t fail to give the madlang people a sensory delight with his mirror dance act.
Despite going solo this year in lieu of Mariel Rodriguez and Joey Marquez, the 2012 winner was able to run the simple yet meaningful presentation alongside some Hashtags and GirlTrends members as his teammates.
Depicting a bout with loneliness, Vhong portrayed a desolate character named Michael looking at multiple “reflections” of himself, played by Hashtags Bugoy, Tom, Nikko, and Kid, and GirlTrends Erin and Joana all wearing prosthetics and similar attire to look like Vhong, dancing identically on an optical illusion of “mirrors.”
In the performance, Michael, played by Vhong, overcame this loneliness by an inspiring vision in the center mirror of deceased family members who all passed away in a tragic accident, urging him to move on and enjoy life, and make the most of what he still has—people who still love and appreciate him unconditionally.
Then, the live image of his It’s Showtime family appeared, proving that he indeed is not alone.
His unique Magpasikat number drew tears and cheers from the audience, all relating to Vhong’s inspiring message.
Will his touching performance prevail in the end? Let’s all find out on Saturday as “Magpasikat Week” continues on It’s Showtime.
