“ALWAYS BETTER TOGETHER...some friendships are formed in the playground or in school but ours was forged in tiny tents, sa putikan, sa harness, sa dressing room, sa puyatan, sa kantahang toothpaste, sa life moments at sa pagmamahalan.”
This was written by Karylle on the caption of one of her posts on Instagram featuring her reel-to-real sisters Iza Calzado, Diana Zubiri, and Sunshine Dizon, whom she met at the set of a rival network’s fantasy series aired in 2005.
Although it has been cliché that it’s impossible to build and maintain genuine and everlasting friendships in the entertainment industry, their closely knit and indestructible bond attests that it is still possible for celebrities to find the tribe in which they truly belong and be comfortable to do things without being judged.
Well, isn’t that obvious with their group photos we gathered and collated for this gallery?
It’s been probably more than a decade since they worked together, their relationship has remained intact yet grown stronger as time went by. Those who follow them might have noticed how they seem to hold their mini get-togethers often through dining, joining one of them on the special days of her life, and doing random stuff that they all love to do in spite of working in competing networks and their hectic schedules.
Apart from their bonding moments during their leisure time, the four equally-gorgeous and talented actresses are also collaborating for a huge production to be helmed by Mark A. Reyes, the director of the series they previously starred in, and will be broadcast on a popular subscription video on-demand service.
But among them, Karylle and Iza are apparently the closest because they are often spotted attending various events together, particularly the ones that are held by the company co-owned by the former and the latter’s fiancé Ben Wintle.
In their appearance on Magadang Buhay last year, they imparted how they met and eventually clicked.
“Nang nakilala ko siya that day sa dressing room, nagme-makeup siya. Nagdadasal [siya] ng rosary. Sabi ko 'Wow, ang bait-bait talaga ni Iza Calzado',” the It’s Showtime host-slash-hurado relayed.
Both of them then added that the reason why they became friends and remain the same until now is due to their similarities – their fervor for music and clubbing and having weird ‘trips’ in life.
When asked about the secret behind their sturdy friendship, they revealed that it’s constant communication and making an effort to find ways for their catching-up dates.
