She’s just one of the many It’s Showtime dancers. She only appears on just one portion of just one segment in the show. She may only be tasked to just hand out questions to Miss Q & A contestants and yet, everyone awaits to see her each day on the noontime show. What is it about Jackque that made the Madlang People love her?
“Isang simpleng mamayan ng Pilipinas lang naman ako, nagsasayaw lang ako ganiyan tapos bilang mabibigyan ka ng break na gano’n… Parang panaginip,” Jackque tells Rated K in an interview.
Like what they say: In a world full of possibilities, anything could happen. Jackque “Ate Girl” Gonzaga is an ordinary girl given a big break in one fateful day. In an interview on Magandang Buhay, Jackque said her banter with Vice Ganda began when the Unkabogable Star started to notice her one day. She was just randomly assigned to carry a fishbowl containing questions in slips of paper for Miss Q & A contestants to pick in the Wit Lang portion.
Then as days passed, she continued to be given that assignment, and every time she does it, Vice notices her more—her outfit, the way she walks, her hair, and a lot more. On the first few days it happened, she admitted she became conscious of herself. Not used to being in the spotlight and always being caught impromptu for a response to Vice’s remarks, “Ate Girl” revealed that she was always hurrying to leave the stage back then. But when it became more frequent, she learned to embrace the moment and prepare herself for her much awaited repartees with Vice.
“Sobrang random ng araw na ‘yun, it just happened naturally… no plans or anything. Ang aliwalas ng hitsura ni Jackque, ang gaan niya lang tapos gusto ko lang… hinarot ko lang siya on the spot tapos ‘yon na, kung anu-ano na nangyari,” Vice said in his interview with Rated K.
Jackque and Vice’s “sweet” exchanges became a trend each day. Their video clips always gain millions of views on the internet. Everyone is thrilled to watch them. When Jackque is not in the show, the crowd misses her. Maybe, we also see what Vice saw in her. Her charm, her different kind of glow that is indeed something you can’t avoid to notice… she also has that remarkable wit that can really keep up with the Phenomenal Superstar.
“Jackque! Keep it up, I am so proud of you. Deserve mo lahat ‘yan dahil mabuti kang ka-trabaho, mabuti kang tao, mabuti kang anak, maganda kang soul. Kaya pagbutihan mo lang lagi, pag-ingatan mo kung ano ‘yong mga naibibigay sa’yong blessings ngayon, at eventually i-share mo rin siya sa iba. Jackque! Got your back,” Vice Ganda further declared in Rated K.
Given this big break that others are not being blessed with, Jackque still keeps her feet on the ground. When asked about what she can say about all the achievements she’s having, she says her gratitude couldn’t be explained. “Ate Girl” promised to work harder, not wasting the opportunities that are being given to her.
With her humility, her charm, beauty and wit, no wonder she got noticed by Vice. And with all these good qualities, it’s no surprise if she’ll go a long way in this industry.
