For almost a decade, It’s Showtime has been our constant companion as we ate our lunches or take our siesta breaks every high noon to afternoon, from Monday to Saturday. The rib-tickling banters and antics of the hosts and the fun, quirky segments never fail to bring boisterous laughter and sheer entertainment to every Filipino home here and abroad.
Marking its 10th anniversary this year, the noontime show not only promised to amuse us with consistently enjoyable episodes and out-of-the-box segments, but it also surprised the madlang people recently with the news of having an international counterpart.
The Indonesian version which just aired its pilot episode last Monday, March 25, shares the same timeslot, opening theme, and format with the original, and also carries the popular segments “Sine Mo ‘To”, “Cash-Ya! Kaya!”, “Ansabe”, “Copy Cut”, and “Bida Dance”.
As we watch out how the franchise will fare in their local TV, let’s get to know its talented set of presenters.
Born on August 26, 1983 to an Austrian mom and Indonesian dad, Luna is a multi-faceted artist who first made a name in the modelling industry before embarking on a career in show business in 2004. She is undeniably a superstar in the archipelago, having starred in numerous movies, soap operas, and commercials. Aside from continuously thriving in the local entertainment scene, she’s also a businesswoman who currently runs an online fashion store and brand ambassadress for countless beauty products.
Another versatile artist in this roster, Raffi is well-known in Indonesia as a host, actor, and singer who kicked-off his entertainment career in 2001. It’s also through showbiz that he met the love of his life – actress Nagita Slavina – to whom he was able to work with in a number of projects in their teenage years and to whom he got hitched with in a luxurious ceremony in 2014. Together, they’re raising their firstborn Rafathar Malik Ahmad and unfalteringly deliver fun and inspiration to their fans through their YouTube Channel dubbed RANS Entertainment.
Being a natural comedian on-and-off-cam, the 43-year-old presenter, actor, and writer will definitely get the madlang people of Indonesia laughing out loud. He began his career as a radio and gossip broadcaster in 2002, until he catapulted into becoming one of the most in-demand emcees in their country.
Proving his brilliance in hosting, Indra was chosen to be the emcee in a private event in which he was able to interview and bond with our very own Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. Awesome!
Born and raised in Bolinao, Pangasinan, he is indeed the only Filipino in this fantastic ensemble. Leo started his journey in Indonesia as a teacher in an international school until he realized that his passion wasn’t really there.
That’s the time when he took a leap of faith and pursued his career in the Indonesian entertainment industry. His remarkable stints there paved the way for him to score more opportunities, such as hosting his own morning TV show, starring in his own TV drama, and dubbing a cartoon series that will be released internationally.
However, as what he revealed in one of his media interviews, there’s still a huge part of him that yearns to be also known in his homeland. And that dream was fulfilled when he signed as one of the talents of Asian Artists Agency in 2017 and has been managed by the King of Talk Boy Abunda in his career in other Asian countries except Indonesia. In his short visit in the Philippines year last year, he made appearances in a slew of TV and radio programs and even met Inigo Pascual -- to whom he is said to have a spitting image with.
Apart from being a popular television personality, Leo is also a certified globetrotter for being able to step his foot in different parts of the world, and a book author after being able to publish two books – the memoir “A Thousand Miles in Broken Slippers” and the cookbook “CuLEOnary Consul.” He is also a doting and awesome dad to his “little angel” Andie.
Going through her Instagram account, it’s unmistakable how this 30-year-old celebrity is such a big ball of sunshine and energy in every place she goes and to every people around her. The sought-after host not only amuses her fans via her appearances on TV and various events, but on social media as well through her wacky snaps and clips that surely make her followers giggle. Due to her sunny disposition, it’s not surprising that she completely gets along well with her colleagues whatever project she’s in!
Apart from her admirable personality, Filipinos will probably like Chika even more because she’s a huge Hallyu fan just like many of us! She actually stans Blackpink and even went to one of the legs of their recently-concluded world tour. In fact, she grooved to Jennie’s “Solo” twice during the first airing of It’s Showtime Indonesia and used the K-Pop group’s collab with Dua Lipa “Kiss and Make Up” as the background to her pre-show makeup sesh video she uploaded on her IG story. Besides, her colorful fashion and youthful style say it all.
We wish you “Semoga Berhasil” on your stint as the hosts of It’s Showtime Indonesia!
