Both of them may have been in the local entertainment scene for around and more than a decade not, but it was actually Yam Concepcion and Gerald Anderson’s first time to work opposite each other in Init Sa Magdamag. Nonetheless, it didn’t hinder them from creating a great chemistry as on-screen sweethearts Rita and Tupe.
And now that the well-loved series is now on its “The Final Blow” finale week, let’s look back on the kilig moments of their characters that definitely made our hearts flutter and made us wish for them to have a happily ever after in the end in this episode of Kapamilya Toplist.
Avid viewers know that they’re a case of hate at first sight as Rita was almost hit by Tupe while driving his motorcycle, which really enraged her. Little did they know that they were going to be roommates as Rita’s landlady assigned him at the room she had been renting for a long time already.
While he was pretty chill about it, she highly objected it since he had been her stiffest rival when they were still in high school. It was later on revealed that she had harbored resentment against him as she almost didn’t make it to college after losing the full scholarship grant to him for being their batch valedictorian, while she was the salutatorian. She accused him of only clinching the distinction after his father donated classrooms to their school, which he denied.
As Rita absolutely abhorred him, Tupe was so fond poking fun at her, which viewers really find cute and thrilling. But from having a love-hate bond, being together most of the time had indeed brought them closer and made them know each other deeper. From only having random and informal conversations, they eventually began to open up to one another and talk about their plans, goals, and dreams in life, as well as their angsts.
They became a couple not long after and made our weeknights extra lovely and scorching with their sweet and intimate scenes. Aside from her best friends Meggy (Kate Alejandrino) and Raymund (Albie Casiño), Rita also had Tupe by her side to support and help her in her endeavors. While they had shared a lot of kilig moments together, such as their simple dates, what truly exhilarated us the most was their passionate scene at the falls, which became the talk of the town.
Unfortunately, as what the oft-quoted adage says, all good things must come to an end – so is their romance. Terrible circumstances got on their way to forever and tore them apart. They treaded on different paths – Tupe pursued his college education and lived with his family in Canada, while Rita successfully became a nurse and got hitched to Peterson Alvarez (JM de Guzman).
However, destiny is apparently at their side as their lives once again intertwined unexpectedly a few years later, giving their relationship a second shot. Aside from being their sperm donor and the biological father of Baby Andrew, it was also Tupe who saved her from her monstrous husband who have gone deranged due to his extreme obsession towards her. He helped deliver their son and take good care of him, as well as move on from her tumultuous marriage and traumatic experiences in the hands of Peterson.
With the help of their supportive friends and families (and even of the universe!), they had the chance to rekindle their love and relive the things they used to enjoy doing together back then – riding on Tupe’s motorcycle and going on dates. They have also fought Peterson hand-in-hand and begun fulfilling the aspirations that they used to have when they were still a couple many years ago, as Tupe’s way of giving her and their son a brand-new beginning.
As Tupe already ‘fessed up about her unwavering love for Rita, their ardent shippers surely couldn’t help but be excited to see them finally live happily ever after together. Will it happen? Well, that’s for us to find out in the remaining episodes of Init Sa Magdamag, weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live and A2Z Channel 11
