Being the daughter of two big stars, KC Concepcion inevitably grew up in the public eye. It did not come as a surprise, either when KC turned out to be a multi-talented artist and followed her parents’ paths by entering showbiz. But after a succession of remarkable movie and television roles, KC steered her focus from showbiz to personal passion projects while staying connected with fans through social media.
For KC, the time away from showbiz isn’t exactly a break since she never disappeared from the limelight. She still kept active online. KC simply wanted to just explore and do new things outside showbiz.
“I think it was already ten years na I’ve been back, since “KC from Paris to Pinas” and my teleseryes. Wala pa naman akong asawa at anak, so I thought that it would be a good time to do new things.” KC thought it would be difficult to juggle her other ventures like opening a business with the demands of showbiz.
She might be tagged as a showbiz royalty but KC is one of the most authentic artists in the business. She would rather keep it real than hold back despite being watched by millions of fans. There was a time, though when her mom Sharon Cuneta would tell her to be mindful of her actions because there are people watching her every move, leading in KC’s fear to make mistakes. It was then when KC saw her mom change perspective about being real. “Biglang nagkaroon ng shift na, ‘You know what, just do what makes you happy. Huwag mo nang isipin ang iisipin ng ibang tao because life is short’,” shared KC.
KC misses hosting where she gets to hear other people’s amusing stories. “Gusto kong makipag-kwentuhan sa ibang tao. Gusto kong naririnig ‘yung mga pinagdaanan ng ibang tao.” She opened up about her gratitude to her beloved Kapamilya Network that serves as a platform to stories that would otherwise remain unheard. “Kaya ‘di ba mahal natin ang network na ‘to kasi they really go sa lahat ng mga kwento ng Pilipino. Sila rin ‘yung nagturo sa akin as a host and as a person kung paano rin maki-relate sa mga taong hindi naman parehas ng mga pinagdaanan o kinalakihan ko.” KC added that hosting opened her mind and eyes to see the real world.
Movie-making is also special to KC, of course. When asked to talk about the most memorable film she made, KC thought of the 2008 romantic flick “For the First Time” which she topbilled alongside Richard Gutierrez. The movie was considered groundbreaking for bringing together two of the biggest stars from rival networks.
When asked about her relationship with her mother, KC said they’re good, despite some inevitable family dilemmas. “There are a lot of things family go through. Pero hindi naman siya life or death situation. My mom and I love each other very much. I know her love for her children is very pure. My mom and I are so okay,” assured KC. Since she’s now living away from the family home, KC always prays for her mom’s happiness.
About her love life, KC would rather keep things private for now, with a promise to be more open once the right time comes. “Kung sa heart, okay naman ako. May mga kausap ako pero kasi syempre ang hanap natin ngayon ‘yung deeper. Sasabihin ko sa inyo pagdating ng time na alam ko na,” KC added.
Lastly, KC was asked to name three of her most unforgettable Kapamilya leading men. On top of the list is Piolo Pascual because they’ve been really good friends. “Alam ni PJ na talagang I cared about him. Hanggang ngayon, alam niya na I worry for him.” KC also mentioned Sam Milby and Richard Gutierrez.
