The most recent vocal battle pays tribute to OSTs of iconic movies and teleseryes. And who better to help the contestants deliver their best renditions than Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs Angeline Quinto. Judges Regine Velasquez, Gary Valenciano, Moira Dela Torre, and Chito Miranda are wowed by the performances.
Kice (And I Love You So)
The recent frontrunner might remind you of Sam Milby’s voice or James Reid’s boy-next-door aura, but Moira believes Kice will carve his own path as the next big thing in OPM. Chito admits Kice isn’t the best singer in the batch. However, he has the charisma which is essential in an Idol.
Ann Raniel (Mangarap Ka)
Ann maintains her rank for three weeks straight. Although not in her jazzy element, her song choice still showcased her vocal prowess, says judge Chito. Besides talented, this star-in-the-making is also intelligent, making sure to apply all lessons gleaned from previous contests, judge Gary observes.
Bryan Chong (Hindi Kita Iiwan)
“It’s okay for you to be comfortable on that stage because you belong there,” judge Chito tells Bryan, who consistently exudes bright energy in his every performance. Judge Gary commends the 22-year-old for entertaining their ears and touching their hearts.
Ryssi Avila (Rainbow)
If Ryssi taps on your emotions when she performs, it’s because she diligently studies the lyrics to deliver its true meaning, according to judge Regine. The Asia’s Songbird likes how Ryssi matched the song’s happy, hopeful message with a positive aura on stage.
Delly Cuales (Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin)
Mentor Angeline admires Delly’s voice, its range and huskiness. Judge Gary describes the performance as “astig” and “tunog-jukebox” while judge Moira says Delly is careful technical-wise yet reckless in pouring out her emotions.
Khimo Gumatay (Hataw Na)
Khimo was unstoppable as he delivers a refreshing rendition of Mr. Pure Energy, judge Gary’s classic hit. Judge Regine commends his versatility, the way he owned the song. For judge Moira, Khimo’s world-class talent deserves to be showcased on an even bigger stage.
Meanwhile, Trisha and PJ picked the songs “How Did You Know” and “Sana’y Maghintay Ang Walang Wakas,” respectively.
