Audition
Flash! Bam! Alakazam! The hopeful rendered a magical performance of “Orange Colored Sky” which is a rather intricate and unpopular song choice in vocal competitions. She proved there’s more to her than just her TikTok dance skills.
We can all agree that Ann Raniel’s sultry rendition of the Nat King Cole classic will go down in history as one of the best Idol PH auditions. Even Regine Velasquez vowed not to sing that piece. She told the hopeful, “It’s a hard song pero para sa’yo parang mani-mani lang, parang wala lang. Ang galing! Nagalingan ako, na-impress ako.”
Group Round
Ann Raniel amazed together with her “Metafour” co-members in their version of “Sandalan.” She showcased voice clarity and chemistry with her groupmates.
Do or Die Round
She soared high in a performance of “Defying Gravity” with her fellow Idol hopefuls during Do or Die Round. She showcased her musicality and sang the Broadway classic with conviction. At that point in the competition, everyone already knew she's going to be a strong contender.
Solo Round
She brought out her intense vocal gymnastics, singing “Ikor-Ikot” in the Solo Round. Moira Dela Torre craved Ann Raniel’s soulful and jazzy style but was nevertheless impressed by the performance
First Live Gala Night (Top 12)
Keeping the judges’ comments in mind, Ann Raniel got more determined to get her power back in the first Live Gala Night where she sang the classic breakup piece “Till My Heartaches End.” She got the second highest percentage of the combined judges’ score and public votes – a position she’d manage to keep until the semi-finals.
Second Live Gala Night (Top 10)
She glowed every week and is never scared to jump from one genre to another. Ann Raniel turned the classic love song “Sa Piling Mo” into a jazzy number. It was a beautiful arrangement with on-point nuances.
Third Live Gala Night (Top 8)
Although she wasn’t in her jazzy element during the third Live Gala where she performed “Mangarap Ka,” her song choice still showcased her vocal prowess, says Chito Miranda. Besides talented, this star-in-the-making is also intelligent, making sure to apply all lessons gleaned from previous contests.
Fourth Live Gala Night (Top 6)
In the most recent Live Gala leading to the finale, Ann Raniel mesmerized the judges with her fierce performance of “One Night Only.” She owned the theme with her powerful vocal range. Gary Valenciano told her, “Na-prove mo na magaling ka talaga.”
