Kapamilya Spotlight: I CANdidate Daniel Matsunaga

I Can Do That, The hit reality talent show of celebrities that became a worldwide phenomenon is now in the Philippines. Starting this weekend, 8 Kapamilya stars will show a side they have never shown before to prove that they can also do challenging and show-stopping performances. Today, let us get to know more Daniel Matsunaga, one of the 8 I CANdidates, as we look back at some of his performances in Kapamilya shows.

Daniel proved he’s more than just a pretty face when he portrayed the role of Phil in the top-rating daytime series Be My Lady. He was paired with Erich Gonzales in the teleserye that tackled an interracial relationship between a Filipino and a Brazilian. Because of the show’s huge success, he was hailed as Daytime Prince.

Before Be My Lady, Daniel also appeared in the primetime drama series Two Wives. He played Kenjie, the man who Janine (Erich Gonzales) ended up with in the end.

In Pinoy Big Brother All In, Daniel was declared as the Big Winner after receiving the highest number of votes. He defeated the other Big 4 housemates Vickie Rushton, Jane Oineza and Maris Racal.

Daniel proved that he could also dance when he had a sexy dance performance with Sarah Geronimo and Hideo Muraoka on “Sarah G Live”.

Daniel, who played with his ex-girlfriend Erich Gonzales, showed off his skills in playing the simple but challenging games of Minute To Win It like Anti-Virus, Beach Tennis, Flip Your Lid, Splitter, and By A Thread. In the end, Daniel and Erich were declared as the Last Duo Standing after defeating beauty queen Bea Rose Santiago and MJ Lastismosa.

Before he became an actor, Daniel was a famous fashion model. He was both a print and runway model for several brands. He proved his knowledge and experience in modeling when he confidently walked the runway of the Cosmopolitan Bachelor Bash few years ago.

During one of his guestings for Gandang Gabi Vice, Daniel tried saying some difficult Filipino tongue twisters.
