'I Can Do That' Journey: Daniel Matsunaga

For 11 weeks, the I CANdidates impressed us with their remarkable and jaw-dropping acts. This weekend (June 3 and June 4), the 4 Great Finalists will compete in the Live Grand Finals to become the First Greatest Entertainer of I Can Do That.

Today, let us look back at the amazing performances of I CANdidate Daniel Matsunaga:

Week 1: Aerial Dance Act

For the pilot week, Daniel was paired with Arci Muñoz for an aerial dance act, under the mentorship of Pilipinas Got Talent Season 5 winners, Power Duo. After Team DArci gave a very romantic and impressive performance, the two received a total of 17 points and were hailed as the Winning Pair of the Week.

Week 2: Chinese Yoyo Act

He was paired with Cristine Reyes during the second week for a Chinese yoyo act, under the mentorship of Spyros. Because of the outstanding performance of Team CrisNiel, they received a total of 16 points and were declared as the Winning Pair of the Week, tied with Sue Ramirez and Gab Valenciano who did an aerial hoop dance act.

Week 3: Human Pyramid Acrobatic Act

Daniel was also paired with Gab Valenciano for a human pyramid acrobatic act, under the mentorship of Triple K Acrobats. Team GabNiel proved that they can also be acrobats and gave a heart-stopping and intense performance, and the two received a total of 11 points for that week.

Week 4: Foot Ladder Balancing Act

He was paired with Pokwang for a foot ladder balancing act, under the mentorship of the Villanueva Duo. The amazing performance of Team DanWang received a total of 11 points.

Week 5: Stiletto Dance Act

Daniel was paired with JC Santos for a stiletto dance act, under the mentorship of Junior New System. After the two heartthrobs impressed the audience and other I CANdidates, Team JCNiel received a total of 17 points and they became the Winning Pair of the Week.

Week 6: LED Poi Dancing Act

For the sixth week, the eight I CANdidates were divided into two teams. Daniel joined Cristine Reyes, Gab Valenciano and Arci Muñoz in an LED poi dancing act, under the mentorship of Alab Poi Dancers. Team Alab ng Puso gave a spectacular performance and received a total of 3 points from the audience and special guest judges, Douglas Nierras and Angel Locsin.

Week 7: Solo Trapeze Act

Daniel was reunited with Cristine Reyes for a solo trapeze act, under the mentorship of Rachel Gutierrez. After their showstopping performance, Team CrisNiel received a total of 19 points and were hailed again as Winning Pair of the Week.

Week 8: Chair Balancing Act

For the first week of the Versus Round, Daniel performed a chair balancing act with Cristine Reyes and Sue Ramirez, under the mentorship of Enopia’s Acrobat. Even though he got injured during rehearsals, he still managed to perform and he received 2 points.

Week 9: Acapella Act

Daniel performed an acapella act with Arci Muñoz and Sue Ramirez, under the mentorship of Pinopela. He definitely proved that he’s a versatile performer and he received 2 points for that week.

Week 10: Leviwand Act

He was reunited once again with Arci Muñoz in a leviwand act, under the mentorship of Ehrlich Ocampo. The two showed their undeniable chemistry even during they were competing against each other. Arci was declared as the Entertainer of the Week and Daniel still received 2 points.

Week 11: Bicycle Tricks Act

For the first week of the Solo Round, Daniel performed a bicycle tricks act, under the mentorship of the BMX Freestylers. He impressed the other I CANdidates and he placed 3rd after receiving a total of 9 points.
