Taking a break from her remarkable stints in Huwag Kang Mangamba as the jolly and kindhearted Darling and as one of the regular performers in ASAP Natin ‘To every Sunday, Angeline Quinto recently showed off her cooking skills by taking on the “Bahay Kubo Challenge” in her latest vlog.
In that latest upload, she dared herself to find all the vegetables mentioned in the Filipino folk song “Bahay Kubo” around the market then turn them as ingredients in the dishes she prepared for their lunch that day. She commenced it by sharing that Felipe Padilla de Leon was the one who wrote it.
As she made her purchases, the “Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs” couldn’t help but sing to make sure that she would complete the list. Unfortunately, not everything was not available since the vendors told her that it’s not yet the season for some of those, so she replaced those with other veggies that were present.
Upon arriving home, Angeline rechecked her list by singing “Bahay Kubo” again and showing the produces she’s able to buy – singkamas (turnip), talong (eggplant), sigarilyas (winged beans), mani (peanuts), sitaw (stringed beans), patola (silk squash or ribbed loofah), upo (bottle gourd), kalabasa (squash), labanos (radish), mustasa (mustard leaves), sibuyas (onion), kamatis (tomato), bawang (garlic), luya (ginger), and linga (sesame seeds).
Since bataw (hyacinth bean), patani (lima beans), and kundol (wintermelon) were not available, she decided to replace those with talbos ng kamote (sweet potato leaves), kamote (sweet potato), and kangkong (water spinach) – which suited the lyrics well, too.
The 31-year-old singer-actress then went on to cook everything she bought herself and with the help of her house helpers. She just simply presented the mouth-watering finished products on their dining table, which we could just hopefully taste and smell.
She’s able to prepare pinakbet that she complemented with fried daing na bangus, pork sinigang, pork meat soup paired with fried dalagang bukid, misua soup, and vegetable salad made up of mustard leaves, turnip, radish, onions, tomatoes, and sesame seeds.
