10 scenes of perfect, child-like faith as shown by Mira in Huwag Kang Mangamba

Since we were little, we’re always told to walk by faith and not by sight, meaning trust in the Lord comes from the heart even when everything we hope for seems impossible. Mira (Andrea Brillantes) is an example of perfect, child-like faith as she held on to God (who she fondly calls ‘Bro’) even when she had no vision. Let’s look back on the times Mira proved her unwavering faith, as seen in this Kapamilya Toplist from Huwag Kang Mangamba.

Mira was blind but her sight is rooted in God’s promises. In a world full of darkness, Bro’s teachings kept her enlightened. She had no shelter and food to eat but it was no reason to question Bro’s love for her, keeping the faith that He will provide, just as He said. In Him, she found her true home.

They say that only the purest of hearts can witness a miracle, thus Mira, along with her eventual best friend and estranged sister Joy (Francine Diaz), was resurrected from the dead. She chalked up that supernatural event to nothing else but Bro’s powers, believing that only He can restore someone’s life.

So, when questioned by then-rebelling Joy, Mira patiently explained the concept of miracle. She insisted that only Bro can perform the impossible while Joy credited science. “Hindi naman porke’t hindi mo nakikita, hindi na ‘yun totoo,” she said, akin to the Bible’s teachings that faith is the evidence of things not seen.

Mira has complete obedience to Bro which is another sign of perfect faith. She follows His instructions even if it led her to danger one time as she was attacked by Deborah (Eula Valdes)’s supporters in her attempt to spread God’s word.

She never questioned Bro despite the circumstances and her lack of sight. And her persistent faith made her worthy of a miracle. As how Bro promised to heal those who believe, He restored Mira’s vision. Basking in the beauty of Bro’s creations, Mira proved that gratitude also strengthens faith.

Another thing that makes Mira’s faith real and relatable is her honesty with Bro. She doesn’t act strong enough to carry all the burdens. After all, only Bro can provide her comfort and help. In a scene, Mira cried to Bro and laid down her pain and questions to Him. She said she’s clueless of why everything seems difficult. “Bro, nandiyan Ka ba talaga? Naririnig N’yo ba ako? she asked Him, proving that they have a real relationship. And at the end of the day, despite all the hurt and questions, she relied on Him for the strength to carry on and wisdom to guide her steps.

Bro’s promises serve as a lamp unto her feet, leading her to her rightful destination – the town of Hermoso. She met Barang (Sylvia Sanchez), Darling (Angeline Quinto), Father Seb (Enchong Dee), Mang Caloy (Soliman Cruz), and Pio (Seth Fedelin).

In a scene wherein Pio said he’s losing faith in God because of unanswered prayers, Mira stressed that Bro answers just at the right time and all we need is to be patient. She also told Joy the same when they were stuck in a dark corner during a typhoon. That night, when Joy couldn’t see anything but danger and hopelessness, Mira told her that prayers are never wasted.

One night, Mira asked Bro the reason behind people’s sufferings. He revealed Himself to her, saying people will never appreciate light without darkness, and joy without pain.
