Kyle Echarri on his ‘sampal’ scene with Nonie Buencamino in Huwag Kang Mangamba

Gen-Z idol Kyle Echarri is adored by legions of fans and is getting good exposure as an actor, performer, and musician yet he knows he still has so much to learn. To be able to prove himself a worthy artist, Kyle listens to the advice of those who know the industry so well like his veteran co-stars in Huwag Kang Mangamba.

Kyle realized that a kind heart more than talent assures an artist’s longevity. He said his senior co-stars are helpful and generous. He’s learning to follow the pattern by being friendly with everyone.

With his natural charisma, it’s easy for Kyle to win everybody’s hearts that even veterans have become his friends. Sometimes he’d drop by Sylvia Sanchez’s house just to say ‘hi.’ He’s learning and enjoying a lot inside their taping bubble.

He’s especially in awe of Nonie Buencamino playing his grandfather in the series. He said Nonie is an amazing actor and would tell him his good points and things to improve. Kyle is privileged to share intense scenes with Nonie. One even came with a forceful slap.

Kyle described what happened on that day, saying three cameras were set up and one was for a close-up shot. “Parang alam ko na mangyayari sa akin,” he thought, knowing that faking the slap won’t look good for a close-up. But it wasn’t as hurtful as he expected.

“Sa gitna ng eksena, emotional. Pagtingin ko sa kanya, boom, sinampal! Pero nagulat ako kasi hindi siya masakit. It was really loud but it didn’t hurt. As in, paiyak na ako pero sabi ko sa isip ko, ‘Wait lang. It wasn’t bad, ‘no?’ I’m happy that he did it kasi naramdaman ko ‘yung emotions ko,” shared Kyle.

Huwag Kang Mangamba reunited the Gold Squad – Kyle, Francine Diaz, Andrea Brillantes, and Seth Fedelin. Kyle is impressed with his friends’ improvement in acting, especially Francine and Andrea, who both deliver drama-heavy scenes. He said he admires how Andrea and Francine  keep up with the demands of their characters, Mira and Joy.

Kyle teased about the entrance of a new character soon, so don’t miss an episode of Huwag Kang Mangamba, weeknights, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live and A2Z.
