Enchong Dee reveals candid, never-before-seen videos of Huwag Kang Mangamba family

Enchong Dee’s mobile phone is a treasure trove of happy, nostalgic, love-filled photos and videos of Huwag Kang Mangamba family

We’ve seen behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the Huwag Kang Mangamba cast from their lock-in taping. But those were mainly curated for the ‘gram. This time, Enchong shows us the more candid ones, those that captured bubble life as how it is, and which he wasn’t able to show before to avoid pre-empting the series.

“Mayroon kasi akong mga tagong videos – videos of friendship and memories, something that I will keep pag natapos na officially ang Huwag Kang Mangamba. So gusto kong maalala lahat ng fun moments na nakatago sa cell phone ko,” he said in his latest vlog uploaded on his YouTube channel.

Enchong made this vlog as a thank you gift to their supporters and to honor the teleserye. “It’s a very trying time na gawin namin itong teleserye na ‘to sa panahon ng pandemya. Pero ganun pa man, we were able to do it successfully and it’s something that I am very, very proud of. It’s a family that’s worth cherishing.”

The first video, he took during their first night at the resort/lock-in house. He was thinking about organizing his things and the room that will serve as his mini home for the next few weeks. He would settle with a cool setup with mood lights.

He brought “life-changing” appliances like popcorn maker and icemaker, which he and Kyle Echarri were trying out in the next video. “First time namin gumamit ng ice maker. Sobra kaming natuwa. Sobrang enjoy! Para kaming mga bata na nakakita ng toy na gumagawa ng ice.”

The next video shows Enchong playing pusoy dos with The Gold Squad. And he was able to earn 200 gems each from losing players Kyle, Seth Fedelin, and Andrea Brillantes.

On their days off, they would bond over swimming, food trips, workouts and games – under the sun! “Kaya after every cycle, nangingitim kami kasi ang hilig namin tumambay sa arawan.” There’s a video of Kyle trying to backflip into the pool.

Since they had enough space to work out in their rooms, Enchong became Kyle’s personal trainer. And he’s happy that Kyle exited bubble taping a lot fitter. “If you notice nasa heavier side pa si Kyle noong time na ‘yun. I am proud of this dude kasi now ‘pag tiningnan mo, ‘pag pinanood n’yo siya ngayon sa PBB, he’s getting closer sa target niyang katawan.”

Seth decided to join their mini fitness program, but not really. “Squats lang ginawa niya pero sa kanya, workout na daw ‘yun,” Enchong said of a video where Seth could be seen just sitting during their exercise session.

Food trips always spell fun and bonding. The Huwag Kang Mangamba cast had so much of that, thanks to Sylvia Sanchez. “Sa dami ng pagkain ni Tita Sylvia sa kwarto niya, punumpuno na ‘yung ref niya.”

He shared videos of them enjoying food from Sylvia like the sansrival cake. She sent the other unit hotdog sandwiches one time. She often cooked for them. Her grilled wagyu beef perfectly matched the vegan barbeque Mylene Dizon brought on the set.

Enchong also took a video of him together with Andrea and Seth buying street food in a canteen. He said the kids paid for his food since he had no cash on hand, “Tawid-gutom program na naman tayo.”

The cast chipped in for their community pantry as well. “It’s also a way of solidarity, camaraderie among us na parang let’s make sure everyone is having a good time. Pandemya, mahirap ang trabaho pero kahit na nagtatrabaho, may oras pa rin para makapag-bonding.”

Besides food, swimming, and cracking jokes, singing kept them alive and happy on set. There’s a video of Enchong and Seth jamming while waiting for their next scene. The Huwag Kang Mangamba cast was among the first to listen to Kyle and Seth’s single “Liligawan Na Kita.” “Sobrang proud nung dalawa. Lagi nilang pine-play kapag nasa resort kami.”

Because of the setup, artists now celebrate special occasions on tapings. Eula Valdes got a birthday surprise from the cast and crew. On Valentine’s Day, Enchong received donuts.

On a video of him swimming with Mylene, Enchong said it’s proof of how close they’ve become. “Para kaming iisang soul. Pareho kami ng mga gustong kainin, pet peeves, mannerisms, as in para ko siyang Nanay. Ang tawag niya nga sa amin sa taping, ako ‘yung panganay niya, si Kyle ‘yung bunso niya.”

He was happy to welcome their guest star Rafael Rosell, a good friend of his brother AJ Dee. He said Rafael played matchmaker to AJ and wife Olga Havran. “Si Raf nagpa-meet sa kanila sa Boracay. Because Raf is half-Norwegian and Ate Olga is half-Norwegian. Si Kuya at Ate Olga nasa Norway na.”

We also see Enchong trying on different hairstyles for his character Father Seb’s backstory.

From time to time, the cast would pull off the best kalokohans or pranks like that of Kyle using his toes as selfie stick during a video call with Darren Espanto. In case you’re having a bad day, check out Enchong playing with a funny selfie filter with Kyle and Seth, and cracking a classic joke with Matet de Leon. “Walang kwenta ‘yung joke ko. Pero na-record ko at naipahiya ko ‘yung sarili ko.”

Enchong felt nostalgic looking back at these videos that captured the happy times, love, and bond he shared with his co-stars. “Mami-miss ko ang Huwag Kang Mangamba family. Sa lahat ng involved sa Huwag Kang Mangamba, staff and crew, maraming maraming salamat.”
