As we live in a world of uncertainties and unpleasantries, it’s arguably easy for us to lose hope and faith that everything would eventually turn out fine and in our favor. But not Mira of Huwag Kang Mangamba, compellingly portrayed by Andrea Brillantes, who, despite being blind and having to live on her own after her mother left her at an orphanage to look for her sister Joy (Francine Diaz), still projects a sunny disposition in life.
And now that the well-loved series is now on its “The Healing Finale” week, let’s look back on the 10 instances when Mira surely inspired us with her unwavering faith in this episode of Kapamilya Toplist!
Just on her first day in Hermoso to search for her estranged mom Fatima (Dimples Romana), we saw how Mira encountered both good and bad people. While there were ones who were nice to her and even extended their help to her, there’s someone who attempted to take advantage of her. Fortunately, she was saved by a man, who turned out to be Joy’s father Samuel (Diether Ocampo).
Notwithstanding, she still had nothing but gratitude to Lord Jesus Christ, who she fondly calls “Bro”, and asked Him to continue looking over her as she went to sleep.
Because of her unwavering faith, “Bro” miraculously cured her blindness and gave her the highly important mission to be the light among those people whose hearts are already shrouded with negativities.
Her optimism might appear as toxic positivity for her then-friend Joy, who had lost her faith then already because of everything that happened in her life, yet she has remained steadfast and tried to restore her faith by telling her how “Bro” never abandoned.
Mira did the same to Tomas (Dominic Ochoa), who used to get angry at “Bro” after he almost lost his beloved wife Rebecca (Matet de Leon) due to sickness. She reminded him that there are struggles in life that we cannot handle nor solve on our own and what we can do is pray for it and surrender it to God.
In the long run, she succeeded in reviving the faith of Joy, which made them closer to one another until they learned that they are not only connected by friendship and faith, but by blood as well. They’ve been each other’s source of strength and hope, and of Barang (Sylvia Sanchez) too, who turned out to be their maternal grandmother.
As they were hopeful that Fatima was still alive, Mira couldn’t help but break down when it was finally found out that the skeleton retrieved by the authorities in Hermoso was hers. Instead of blaming God or getting angry at Him, all she asked Him was to give them strength as they went through this hard and painful time.
It was only Him to whom she strongly held on to when she decided to leave her family and unexpectedly became part of a syndicate as she found herself having to do things against her will and morals, such as theft.
And in the recent episodes, we witnessed how Mira entrusted the life of Pio (Seth Fedelin) to “Bro” after their encounter with Deborah’s (Eula Valdes) cohorts put his life in danger.
Will Mira be able to completely fulfill the mission bestowed to her? Let’s all find out by not missing the remaining episodes of Huwag Kang Mangamba, weeknights after FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live and A2Z Channel 11.
