Mon Confiado is a veteran in the acting world, a seasoned actor who has portrayed a wide range of characters and navigated the many highs and lows of the industry. His extensive experience has given him a keen eye for talent and a deep understanding of what it takes to make a lasting impact on screen.
When Mon expresses admiration for an artist, you know they truly stand out. His praise is not easily earned, making it all the more meaningful when he highlights those who have genuinely impressed him with their brilliance and skill. Know who these artists are, and what are his thoughts about longevity in this edition of “Spill the Tea-to” Challenge on Kapamilya Chat.
According to Mon, one actor who has made a significant impression on him is John Arcilla. He witnessed John’s exceptional talent and versatility first-hand when they made the historical film “Heneral Luna.”
Unlike him who changes his looks for every character, John isn’t a fan of altering his physical appearance for a role. Despite that, his ability to embody and differentiate each character he plays is truly remarkable. And Mon finds this both inspiring and admirable.
Fans of Andrea Brillantes are likely to feel a surge of kilig and pride when they hear the award-winning actor’s praise for her. He sees Andrea as one of the standout young actresses of today’s generation.
“Napakahusay na bata! Napaka-dedicated niya. Nakikita ko sa set, sa prosesong ginagawa namin. ‘Pag nag-eksena kami, memorized na ang lines, alam ang gagawin, alam niya ang character niya,” he enthused.
As a veteran actor, Mon understands the challenges of portraying dual characters, which Andrea masterfully accomplished in “Senior High” where she played twin sisters Luna Amore Cruz and Sky Love Cruz.
“Kitang-kita mo ‘yung difference. ‘Pag si Sky siya, nag-iiba. ‘Pag si Luna, nag-iiba rin. Ang galing! Sobra!,” he remarked on her performance, highlighting her exceptional versatility.
“Isa ‘yan sa mga gems natin. And I’m sure magiging isa sa malalaking artista in the future. Malaking artista na nga siya, actually, ngayon pa lang,” he further applauded his younger co-star in “Senior High” and “High Street.”
When it comes to his work, Mon has a few things that really get under his skin. One of his major dislikes is working with people who aren't focused. Since Mon himself is deeply committed and attentive to his craft, he finds it most satisfying to collaborate with fellow artists who are equally dedicated to their scenes.
“Itong trabahong ito, iba-iba. Hindi siya ‘yung araw-araw ay pareho ang gagawin mo. So, kailangan may focus. Alam mo ang character mo, in short,” he explained. This is where preparation and understanding one’s method and process in acting come into play.
For those curious about maintaining longevity in the showbiz industry, Mon has a valuable perspective.
Even if you’re exceptionally talented, being overly demanding can be a drawback. Mon reflects on his experiences, pointing out that while some actors prefer a solo standby area, which he understands, it's also important to be flexible. He believes that making reasonable adjustments is crucial for maintaining a harmonious working environment. Good actors create great synergy.
Emphasizing the power of cooperation and professionalism, the “The Expat” actor believes that being adaptable and easy to work with are key to sustaining a successful career.
His recent portrayal as Governor William Acosta in “High Street” proved to be a masterclass in creating a villain that resonates on multiple levels, leaving a lasting impression that’s hard to shake. As the series approaches its finale, Mon teases about a mind-blowing ending that will definitely satisfy viewers, or maybe make them ask for another season.
