In the Kapamilya series "High Street," which aired its finale episode last August 30, we saw how Sky Love Cruz is so appreciative of her loved ones and friends—just like the actress who plays her, Andrea Brillantes, right?
There’s really something special about a friend who doesn’t just see what you’re capable of but also makes you feel genuinely proud, as if your achievements always deserve a standing ovation. That’s exactly what Andrea is like, and you can see it in Kapamilya Chat's fun edition of "Tanong Mo, Mukha Mo." In this challenge, Andrea waits for someone’s picture to pop up on the screen and either asks them a question or sends them a sweet message.
Since we're all still nursing a serious GinoKy hangover, let’s kick things off with a picture of Juan Karlos Labajo, who played Andrea’s love interest, Gino, in “Senior High” and its sequel “High Street.” With Christmas just around the corner, Andrea is all set to drop a holiday gift request to JK. "Pwede mo ba akong gawan ng kanta?" she asked with her signature charm.
She didn’t have a question for another member of the "Northford High" barkada, Zaijian Jaranilla, who’s been her friend since they were kiddie actors. But there’s something she just had to highlight and tell her childhood buddy: “I’m so proud of you. Idol kita forever.” She continued, “Best actor ‘yan, eh! ‘Yan ang pinakamagaling sa amin at alam na niya ‘yun!”
Another one of her fellow child stars who turned out to be one of her best friends in showbiz is Xyriel Manabat, who she’s also super proud of. On top of that, she’s curious to know from Xyriel, “Paano mo nagagawang hindi mawalan ng energy?”
She and Kyle Echarri may not be endgame in their series’ Season 1, but in real life, what they have is a lasting friendship. Of course, she’s also seeing him soar high. “Proud din ako sa kanya kasi leading man na siya, at meron na siyang sarili niyang show, at kasabayan niya sina [Piolo Pascual],” she says of Kyle’s torchbearer status in “Pamilya Sagrado.”
Let’s switch things up and see what she has to say about her on-screen moms. First up is Angel Aquino, who played her mother, Tania, in “Senior High” and “High Street.” Andrea is just like the rest of us—completely stunned by Angel’s beauty. Aside from gushing over how gorgeous Angel is, she believes that the show got even better because Angel was part of it.
“Minsan kapag mabigat ‘yung pakiramdam ko on set, mayakap ko lang siya, nawawala talaga. Para ko siyang sugar–pampatamis ko siya. Tapos nakaka-feel kami ng connection na minsan, sabi ni Mommy A [Angel], magtinginan lang kami, okay na,” expressed Andrea. She’s also thankful that the seasoned actress gave Tania’s character the justice it deserved.
As for Dimples Romana, who was once her supportive mother in “Kadenang Ginto” but turned into her mortal enemy in “High Street,” Andrea jokingly apologized to her, saying there were several times she accidentally hit Dimples during their intense squabbles and fights in “High Street.” But what she really appreciates is that whenever she says sorry, Dimples always assures her that everything’s okay and that no one’s to blame.
Andrea couldn’t hide her excitement when Anne Curtis’s image popped up on the screen—she totally went into fangirl mode and nearly jumped for joy talking about Anne’s upcoming project, the Filipino adaptation of the hit K-Drama “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay.” Speaking like a true fan, she told Anne’s picture, “Ikaw talaga ang may pinaka-deserve ng role na ‘yan dito sa Pilipinas. I’m so, so happy!”
So, Kapamilya, what would you like to ask or say to Andrea or her character Sky, who really surprised everyone with her ending in “High Street”?
