From capturing our hearts as the wide-eyed boy named Santino in the classic Kapamilya series “May Bukas Pa” many years ago, Zaijian Jaranilla has gone on to astound us at present with his compelling portrayal of gay character Tim in the youth-oriented series “Senior High” and “High Street.”
Even though we witnessed his growth literally and figuratively, there is still more about Zaijian that we certainly don’t know about. The same goes with Tim, whose coming-out story and romance unfolded right before our eyes. And the actor’s responses to this “Real High” game, in which he had to choose between two preferences that fit his own personality as well as that of Tim, could help us get to know them a bit more.
Since their respective jobs as actors and a policeman require them to sometimes go beyond the working hours given, Zaijian assumed that Tim would go for overtime like him rather than breaktime.
Although they both love their jobs, they would still choose to have an absolute staycation rather than keep on working while on vacation, a.k.a. “workation.” The nature of their work is probably also the reason why the former child star opted for piercings over tattoos for himself and his character.
Another similarity between Zaijian and his “High Street.” character is their preference for painful truth rather than a comforting lie. Remember that scene when Tim urged his boyfriend, Poch (Miggy Jimenez), to tell him the real reason why he’s breaking up with him, despite knowing that it could further shatter his heart. After all, it’s still better to know the truth and get hurt, right?
When it comes to their differences, the young actor chose non-fiction for himself and fiction for Tim. And one of the main reasons that we could think of is as simple as because Tim is just a fictional character yet he tells true stories.
Growing up in the industry and a simple life have apparently turned Zaijian into a streetsmart, while being intelligent, not to mention a magna cum laude when he graduated from college, has made Tim a book-smart.
As Zaijian revealed that he prefers actions over words, he thinks that both are important for his Tim, which we could notice in the dynamics of his relationship with Poch.
And lastly, while both of them are passionate about their jobs, Zaijian said that stability matters more to him, while he knows to himself that Tim will continuously be in pursuit of his passion as a policeman.
With whom can you relate more, Zaijian or Tim? Whoever your answer is, continue showing your love and support for both of them by not missing an episode of “High Street.,” weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TV5 and A2Z.
