Say ‘Hello’ to ‘Hello Stranger’

Black Sheep is set to release their first-ever digital series just in time for the film company's second year anniversary this June 2020.

Starring Tony Labrusca and JC Alcantara, 'Hello Stranger' is a weekly digital series that everyone can enjoy for free.

Shot, written, produced and set during the lockdown, the series tells of an unexpected love with an unexpected person at the most unexpected time that's sure to bring the kilig and feels week after week.

Mostly known from his queer works like the 2016 Cinema One Originals Best Picture '2 Cool, 2 Be 4gotten,' Petersen Vargas makes a return to the digital screens after the success of Hanging Out, a gay Filipino web series. Vargas re-teams with Patrick Valencia, co-creator and writer of Hanging Out to bring about a Pinoy take on the wildly popular BL series craze.

The series tackles love and friendship between two Filipino college boys. During the lockdown, a nerdy college student, Mico (Alcantara), is forced to be partners wtih the star basketball player, Xavier (Labrusca), for a school project.

From being the worst of enemies, the two boys form an dunlikely bond that goes beyond friendship. Told through conversations on Zoom, Facebook chats and Instagram stories, the series explores the relationships that are built at a time like this.

After his success in films like the 2018 iWant Original 'Glorious,' Tony Labrusca is set to bring his charm and good looks to BL fans everywhere in his role as Xavier.

Playing opposite Labrusca is JC Alcantara in his first lead role after his successful run in the 2018 hit TV series 'Halik.'

The two underwent extensive chemistry workshops with the director and team of Hello Stranger to ensure that their sparks are put front and center throughout the run of the series.

Also rounding up the cast are Gillian Vicencio, Vivoree Esclito, and Patrick Quiroz from Rise Artists Studio and Star Magic, and theater actor Miguel Almendras. Vicencio plays Crystal, a popular girl whom everyone aspires to be while Esclito, Quiroz and Almendras play Kookai, Seph, and Junjun respectively, members of The Young Padawans, Mico's support system and barkada during the lockdown.



'Hello Stranger' will be available all over the world for free on Black Sheep's Facebook and YouTube accounts starting June 24, 2020 at 8:30 p.m.

The first episode is part of Cinema One Originals' Pride Month Celebrations via the 'Cinema At Home' virtual film festival.
