Ever since she catapulted to fame in the 90s, Sylvia Sanchez has proven how versatile and brilliant she is as an actress. As the population of the entertainment industry continues to balloon, she remains one of the top-caliber artists whose acting prowess can never be paralleled.
Throughout her career, it’s apparent that majority of the projects given to her both in television and movies we’re all matriarchs, which she really nailed especially in real life. As we expect another heartwarming performance from her through the upcoming afternoon series entitled Hanggang Saan where she will play as a selfless mother to her ailing son, let’s revisit her spectacular performances in some of the Kapamilya programs.
Be Careful with My Heart
We surely loved her as the very loving and supportive Nanay Teresita of Maya (Jodi Sta. Maria) and Cristina Rose or Kute (Aiza Seguerra) and Mamay to Cho (JM Ibanez) in the top-rating and critically-acclaimed daytime series. Who would not want a parent who has your back in everything you do and in your every decision in life?
It was the first time Sylvia and his real-life son Arjo Atayde worked together for a project, but it was only for a few episodes. She played the mentally-challenged mother of Arjo’s character.
Pangako Sa ‘Yo
In the 2015 remake, she exhibited how a doting mother could become ferocious once her family would be oppressed. Despite being an amputee, Krystal Toleda didn’t let her condition hinder her from being a good mother to her unica hija Claudia (Angelica Panganiban). Up to her very last breath, she fought for her and cheered her up.
Aside from being a mother to her daughter Lovely (Beauty Gonzales) and son-in-law Dondon (Ketchup Eusebio), Sylvia’s character in the noontime series, Pacita, also had to fill the maternal figure in her granddaughter’s life when Lovely died.
My Super D
How would you feel if you discovered that your son is the superhero everyone is looking upon? Will you be proud or will fear dominate you? Sylvia’s character, Belen, showed us how to nurture a superhero and support your children in everything they do.
The Greatest Love
This could be her most remarkable performance to date. In the critically acclaimed afternoon soap opera, the veteran actress portrayed the selfless and cheerful Gloria who always looked at the brighter side of life. She later on succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease, the illness she hid from her four children and grandson for a very long time.
La Luna Sangre
And the latest mother figure she immortalized was Aling Dory, the surrogate mom to Miyo (Kathryn Bernardo) in the primetime series La Luna Sangre. The mere fact that she wholeheartedly accepted Miyo to her family despite not knowing her was a clear sign that she’s definitely a great matriarch.
We all loved her characters in her previous projects, so we’re certain that you’ll surely admire her as Sonya Mitra-Alipio in the newest Kapamilya Gold offering of ABS-CBN, Hanggang Saan, gracing your screens starting November 27.
