Veteran actress Manilyn Reynes sees something special about Kathryn Bernardo, her character Betchay’s beloved daughter Chichay in the 2013 romcom-drama Got To Believe.

Amidst her admiration for the young star, Manilyn tells King of Talk Boy Abunda in this interview how Kathryn reminds her about her younger years as a teenage superstar in the 1980s.

“Nakikita ko kasi how I was, ‘yung bubbly bubbly days,” Manilyn stressed. “The way she acts kasi, ganoon din eh. ‘Yung role niya, parang ganoon din ako when I was younger na bubbly na puno ng life. Fun lang. Everything to her is fun lang.”

She also is impressed with Kathryn’s immense amount of energy while taping for the series.  “’Di mo makikita na ‘I’m so tired, I’m so stressed out.’ Hindi mareklamo,” she said.

But despite Kathryn’s rising stature in the industry during the time they were part of the series, Manilyn said the Queen of Hearts is also very humble and grounded when it comes to perfecting her craft as an actress.

“She’d ask me how it was also noong panahon (ko). Nagtatanong siya ng maraming bagay,” Manilyn pointed out.

Manilyn also recalled how “supportive” Kathryn was as a friend on the set. “She’s very supportive sa dyeta ko. She gives me chocolates all the time,” she said in jest.
