Zanjoe Marudo and Pokwang held hands while walking to the GGV stage. It was in 2014 when they teamed up in the comedy film “My Illegal Wife.” Since they’re playing a couple, they had to act sweet in front of the cameras which Pokwang clarified as only for the show.
“Walang malisya,” she said while resting her legs on Zanjoe’s lap, when asked if she liked him for real. The two became good friends since starring in the Kapamilya sitcom “Aalog-Alog” in 2006.
Because they’re a comedy loveteam, they needed a portmanteau. Vice Ganda thought of possible fandom names like PoZo that can be short for Pozo Negro, until they settled for Jokwang.
Then, asked if his leading lady is girlfriend material, Zanjoe replied, “Pwede! Maganda naman si Pokwang, eh.” He was also asked which part of then-girlfriend Bea Alonzo’s face he’d swap with Pokwang’s facial feature. To help him decide, the comedienne posed like a supermodel and that’s when he noticed her prominent cheekbones.
Pokwang was single at the time. She said her top priority is sending her daughter Mae to college. The video ends with Zanjoe tickling Pokwang in the knee. Check out their ‘kulitan’ in this throwback episode of Gandang Gabi Vice.
