Vice Ganda never seems to slow down as the Kapamilya star keeps moving up, along with his evening show Gandang Gabi Vice, which is successful in capturing the hearts of so many viewers. As GGV celebrates its 8th year of making us laugh and continues to give us nothing but good vibes every Sunday, a benefit concert dubbed “Walopet’ was held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila.
GGV’s June 30 episode started off with Vice performing his own rendition of “Sa’yo,” with the band Silent Sanctuary. As always, the host looked ravishing while performing this song in black embedded suit, and of course impressed the crowd with his vocals.
After wowing everyone with his song number, Vice decided to head down to the audience area to bond with his fans and supporters. He came a across a guy named Raymond, who opened up to him and revealed his current disposition. Apparently, he was heartbroken because of his college sweetheart who left him for someone else. “Nagre-review kami sa board exams, tapos habang katabi ko siya ka-i-love-you niya ‘yung bago niya, ganyan,” he stated. Raymond started to turn emotional, and even hugged Vice because he couldn’t keep everything in anymore. Vice was startled when Raymond started to cry, but showed some empathy and hugged him back. Raymond also said that as soon as he found out that Vice had a concert, he didn’t think twice and bought tickets, hoping that the experience would make him happy. Vice was very pleased with his story and replied, “Salamat ha. Sana napapasaya kita at sana napapagaan ko ‘yung damdamin mo”. Vice continued by giving Raymond a piece of advice, “Ito ang tatandaan mo, may mga taong nakakapagsaya sa atin, pero ‘wag nating iasa sa kanila ‘yung lubos at totoong kasiyahan natin. Dapat tayong nagbibigay nun sa sarili natin.” The Unkabogable Star also told Raymond that what transpired was a blessing, so that he will now move forward to what he really deserves, and hopefully someone better.
After Raymond shared his sad love story, Vice went on to sing more hugot songs and collaborated with the OPM band I Belong To The Zoo. The group and Vice were able to deliver a flawless performance of the song “Sana.” He then carried on and impressed viewers as he belted out “Kung ‘Di Rin Lang Ikaw”, along with December Avenue.
The Phenomenal Star then spoke of how people go through trying times and sadness, and explained that it is something that everyone goes through in life. He then called his three guests Chad Kinis, Negi and Brenda Mage. Vice asked the 3 comedians if they ever had their own struggles with being unhappy at a certain point in their lives. Negi divulged that in spite of having to smile and make people laugh as performers, they too have had their fair share of being distraught. “Tayo nagpapatawa, pero sa likod nun may tinatago ring tayong ano…,” he said. According to Brenda, times were tough when he was having issues with his then boyfriend during his It’s Showtime Miss Q & A stint, and said that his ex’s demands were starting to become more and more. “Tumataas din ang hinihingi niya sa akin,” he narrated. However, Brenda said that he feels better now because he senses a connection between him and Raymond. “Parang nade-develop na kami sa isa’t isa,” he joked. Lastly Chad revealed that it was difficult being in a relationship where he felt that he wasn’t a priority and didn’t feel loved. At that time, he felt that his partner was not proud of their relationship and was ashamed of what they had. “Ang hirap nung lalabas kayo na dapat nakadistansya ka sa kanya kasi, alam mo ‘yung pakiramdam na ikinahihiya ka,” he said teary-eyed.
The GGV host carried on with the show and jammed with the group This Band, and sang the hit song “Kahit Ayaw Mo Na.”
At the end of the show, a cheque worth Php1,000,000 was donated to Tulong Center.
And finally, the grand prize winner was announced by the Unkabogable Star, who was set to bring home a brand new car.
