“Gandang Gabi sa aking mga bagong daughters!”
Vice Ganda welcomed three very talented Idol Philippines singers Lucas Garcia, Matty Junioso and Enzo Almario on Gandang Gabi Vice last October 27 episode. The trio gave an outstanding “One Night Only” opening number, which received nothing but applause and cheers from the studio audience.
During their interview, they revealed that they now have a name for their group. They call themselves “iDolls” with Matty being the ‘sosyal’ one, Lucas as the ‘jologs’ of the three and Enzo, the ‘semi-jologs.’
When Vice asked, “Sino ang pinakamagandang doll sa inyong tatlo?” Matty and Lucas both pointed to Enzo because according to them the latter’s beauty is a stand out even without make-up.
When it comes to their queer personas, it is known that they are very proud of who they are. However, Lucas admitted that he had his reservations about opening up to the world at first because he thought that audiences might not accept him. He narrated that back in school, he tried not to act too flamboyant, but his classmates would get shocked when he’d grab a pen that had feathers on it. For Enzo, back in college everyone knew he was gay, but he would still act boyish in front of the freshmen girls. On the other hand, Matty was open with his gender and when he’s with friends, although it was a different story when he’s at home where he would try to be discreet.
They also lauded each other for their talents and skills. Matty and Enzo praised Lucas’s voice, which for them shows maturity and experience. Matty added that he likes Enzo’s pop like voice which he thinks suits that of a boyband member. Enzo is a fan of Matty’s voice as well and he said that he set the standards high. As for Lucas, he thinks Enzo’s voice is of international caliber, and sounds like Shawn Mendez. “Ang gwapo ng boses,” Lucas said about Enzo.
But little did they know that they would be facing two of their ‘critics.’ Vice called Pepay and Jewel on stage who both were ‘questioning’ the iDolls members’ singing abilities. Pepay and Jewel made the GGV audience laugh with their witty punchlines and impressed everyone with their vocal capabilities.
Given their talent, Vice wanted to hear more of what they could do. Enzo was up first and performed “Titanium,” Matty sang “Narito Ako” by Regine Velasquez, and Lucas did “Tila” by Lani Misalucha.
Vice made them introduce themselves sounding like men, but then they had to transition to a girl’s singing voice. Enzo sang an Ariana Grande hit while Lucas belted out “Shine” and Matty performed “I Will Always Love You.”
Next challenge was they had to introduce themselves as girls, but had to sound like men while singing. Enzo began by saying, “My tatay taught me to see the beauty in situations and silver linings” and then sang “You Are The Reason” impeccably. Matty was very feminine while introducing himself but couldn’t quite sing like a man. “Paano bang maging maging lalaki?” he asked. Lucas was able to introduce himself and sang the song “Can’t Help Falling In Love.” On top of that, he was able to switch from boy to girl abruptly while singing “Endless Love”.
For their last challenge, they were made to sing “I’m Telling You I’m Not Going,” while acting out a skit where they had to grab the crown and sash from Enzo. They went along with the task and as expected they brought the house down with their performances.
And for the closing song, they did their own rendition “Makita Kang Muli”.
