“Mula sa aking puso, ako po’y masayang masaya na nadito ako,” said Boy Abunda as he greeted Vice Ganda during his guesting on Gandang Gabi Vice.
They would talk about Tito Boy’s title, “King of Talk,” which he said comes with a little discomfort when he’s introduced that way. Of course, it’s an honor to be given that moniker because it’s a validation of his hard work and his impact on the audience. “But, I am not very comfortable dahil, una wala naman akong queen. Ang king ay may queen,” he quipped.
Kidding aside, he said being called as such is a continuous challenge, “Dahil mas lalo mo pang pinag-iigi dahil you have to deserve the title.” He added that such titles are considered one’s “branding” which has positive effects in building a person’s identity. He also mentioned that Filipinos have the natural inclination to baptize people with different titles.
Vice commented that besides the talent in hosting, Tito Boy is also appreciated for his taste in fashion. Again, the veteran host refused to call himself an expert, “Hindi siguro mahusay [sa pananamit] and I’m not self-deprecating, siguro wala lang takot.” They went for the term “mapangahas.”
Tito Boy continued, “Hindi po talaga ako takot mag-express ng sarili ko sa pananamit” then returned the compliment to Vice.
