The year was 2016. Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla were promoting their movie “Barcelona: A Love Untold” on Gandang Gabi Vice. As for their relationship status, Kathryn and Daniel weren’t still open about it. That’s why fans went into a frenzy seeing them act territorial with each other.
Host Vice Ganda prodded KathNiel about their last quarrel. Without going into the details, they hinted that Kathryn got jealous. “Bawal sabihin,” she said when asked who the object of jealousy was. She just admitted to being more possessive than Daniel.
Vice then brought up Olivia Lamasan’s comment that Daniel is the new generation’s Aga Muhlach in terms of depth of acting. But the thing is Aga had no permanent loveteam partner when he was young.
Vice then asked KathNiel if they’re ready to see each other team up with different artists for their next project. Kathryn replied, “As in next na? Ah, hindi! Hindi pwede.”
Daniel seconded, “I think hindi pa pwede ngayon. Hindi lang para sa amin kundi para sa mga KathNiels. Hindi pa sila ready sa ngayon. Pero darating din 'yung time, alam naman natin na kailangan din talaga nang gan’un.”
In 2019, Kathryn was paired with Alden Richards in the highest grossing Filipino film of all time, “Hello Love Goodbye”. But KathNiel just grew stronger as a reel and real-life couple.
Now they’re making a historic comeback on primetime via rom-com series “2 Good 2 Be True,” the first teleserye to premiere on Netflix, and which had its pilot episode on free TV last May 16.
