Gandang Gabi Vice continues to reign all over the country, which gives our Unkabogable Star more reasons to celebrate. The show marks its 8th year giving audiences a pleasant way to pass their Sunday evenings, through fun and laughter. In GGV’s anniversary episode, the benefit show “Walopet” continues to surprise and give viewers a treat with all out performances from special guests at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila.
On GGV’s June 23 episode, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez looked beautiful and elegant donning an embedded black gown while belting out the song “Weak” by SWV. Vice Ganda praised her for the performance and spoke fondly of their relationship even before Regine transferred to the Kapamilya Network. “Alam n’yo si Regine po, kahit wala pa siya sa ABS-CBN dati, nagte-text kami at nanonood siya ng GGV,” he disclosed. Regine agreed and added that she and her sibling have always been fans of the show ever since. Vice emphasized that Regine has always been supportive of his efforts in wanting to sing and even urges him to do so. He continued by saying that it was an honor to have collaborated with her in a concert before, to which she replied, “Sa akin din isang dream ‘yun na makasama si Vice.”
Vice also tried to be a singing Diva for the night and sang one of Regine’s classic hits, “Dadalhin,” while trying to imitate her facial expressions. When Vice was done with his stint, Regine jokingly said that she will try harder to work on her technique to sound just like him. “In order for you to feel what the lyrics are all about, you have to know the meaning of the song,” Vice explained to her. He also urged the OPM icon to sing “Boom Panes”, which she was able to perform impeccably, while adding her own flare to it.
Regine was not left off the hook and was required to take on a challenge as well, which was to perform her own rendition of Vice’s hit song “Whoops Kiri Whoops.” Without fail, the Songbird was able to deliver a one of a kind performance.
