Introduced by Vice Ganda as a “ladies’ man,” Luis Manzano clarified his reputation of being too friendly with new Kapamilya actresses in an episode of Gandang Gabi Vice.
Before that, Luis and Vice talked about how their friendship started.“Nagsimula ang friendship natin, umikot ‘yun sa pera. May punto sa buhay ko na kumapit ako sa patalim,” quipped Luis. Kidding aside, working in different films grew their closeness.
They have shared five movie projects already from “Hating Kapatid” to “In My Life,” “Praybeyt Benjamin,” “Petrang Kabayo,” and “This Guy’s In Love with U, Mare.” And Luis is proud of how Vice rose to stardom.
“Nakailang pelikula kami na introducing si Vice. Ngayon, si Vice na rin ang holder ng highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.”
Then, they talked about Luis’ love life. Vice said, “May record ka na lahat ng bagong artista dito sa ABS-CBN, naging extra friendly ka sa kanila.” The list includes Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis, Jodi Sta. Maria, Heart Evangelista, Carmen Soo, and even Sarah Geronimo.
Luis defended himself from his “ladies’ man” reputation, saying his friendly nature is often misinterpreted and that being too close with a girl doesn’t mean there’s an intention to make a move.
“Iniisip kasi ng iba nanliligaw talaga ako. Nakikita mo kung gaano ako ka-comfortable agad sa isang tao.
Admittedly, ‘yung ibang tao kasi hindi nage-gets agad ‘yun. Porke’t tumatawa kasama ang isang lalaki, iniisip dumidiskarte kaagad,” he explained.
The GGV host also brought up Luis’ penchant for giving other people pet names. For instance, he calls Vice “munchie” which started from a baby talk ‘kulitan’ on It’s Showtime.
He calls Anne “nippy” but no one really knows its meaning, “It’s a ten-year secret sa amin ni Anne na kahit ‘yung Mommy ko tinatanong pero hindi namin sinasabi.”
He used to call ex-girlfriend Jennylyn Mercado “mats mats” because they got close during their jiu jitsu class that requires mats. “Noong nanligaw ako, sabi ko nami-miss ko ang mats kasi siya ‘yung nakakasama ko sa mats.”
