We have known Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford as hosting tandem but none of us really knew they’ve met as kids and that their friendship started thanks to two samurai swords.
In a past episode of Gandang Gabi Vice, the buddies revealed that they met on the set of Luis’ mom Vilma Santos’ variety show. Billy said he was around 7 then and Luis was still called Lucky.
“Unang beses na nakilala ko siya, may dala siyang dalawang maliit na samurai swords. Ang nakakatuwa, kaka-introduce pa lang sa amin sa isa’t isa, hinahabol niya ako backstage ng samurai swords,” Billy recalled.
Then, Billy left the country and successfully pursued an international career. When he came home and became a bonafide Kapamilya, he saw Luis again on ASAP. He didn’t know it was the same kid who chased him with samurai because everybody’s calling him Luis, not Lucky.
He approached Luis and asked if he’s that same guy. Then, Luis had a funny response and that’s how they started out as friends, although they got closer while hosting Pilipinas Got Talent and Panahon Ko ‘to!: Ang Game Show ng Buhay Ko.”
Luis and Billy never shied away from showing their ‘bromance.’ They’re pretty much comfortable hugging and acting clingy to each other simple because they’re secured of their sexuality.
Vice is also a big part of their friendship. He calls Luis and Billy his forever boyfriends, “’Yung parang kahit tumanda ako, hindi ako matatakot mag-isa kasi meron akong mga forever boyfriends.”
Then they also talked about why Luis plays cameo roles in Vice’s movies. It’s because the Unkabogable Star and late director Wenn Deramas considered Luis as lucky charm.
