There was a time when Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes were inseparable, starring in different projects together. Although they remain the best of friends to this day, we just miss seeing them in one show, having girly fun like what happened in their first guesting on Gandang Gabi Vice with the Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda.
Kathryn and Julia rose to bigger stardom after playing the titular roles in the remake of the hit television series Mara Clara. Then-teenagers, the two proved their acting mettle in heavy drama and intense confrontation scenes – complete with “sabunutan at sampalan.”
According to the Goin Bulilit alums, their physical scenes were real. “Gusto kasi namin talaga totohanan. So ‘pag po may scene na sabunutan, totoo ‘yun, walang fake,” shared Kathryn. Albeit real, the confrontations never ruined their friendship.
Kathryn played the poor daughter Mara, which is far from real life. Vice Ganda commented that Kathryn had a nanny and asked where the actress lives. Kathryn also talked about her love for makeup influenced by her older sister. She started learning how to do her makeup at the age of 11 just by watching her ‘Ate.’
The tandem was then promoting their teen series Growing Up and Star Cinema film “Way Back Home.”
