Cheers to another triumph by our one and only Unkabogable Star! That’s right, Vice Ganda has another reason to celebrate as Gandang Gabi Vice marks its 8th year. In this episode, viewers were in for a surprise, as Vice and his special guests treated them to a spectacular benefit show called “Walopet,” which was held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila. What made this particular event special was that all proceeds would be donated to ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Tulong Center.
Vice welcomed the crowd with his one-of-a-kind opening number and performed “Electric Dreams” by Philip Oakey and “We Could Be Heroes” by David Bowie. The Kapamilya star was also accompanied on stage by the FCPC Baliktanaw Dancers, the talented group hailed as the World of Dance Philippine Champions this year.
The Phenomenal Star impressed audiences with his bubbly persona and his usual outrageous costumes. The GGV host also touched the hearts of viewers with his heartfelt message to his home network. “Maraming maraming salamat sa walong taon na walong sawa ninyong tinatawanan kami tuwing gabi ng Linggo, walong humpay ninyong hinagalpakan at walong tigil ninyong sinuportahan. Maraming salamat po,” he said. He also added that he was grateful for the opportunity for the trust that was given to him over the years, which he stressed that not everyone is lucky enough to have, “Gustong kong magpasalamat sa ABS-CBN at sa management. Maraming maraming salamat sa pagtitiwala sa akin ng programming ito”. Vice also thanked the production staff and guests for assisting and making this whole journey possible.
The show also wanted to give back by giving away items to audience members. The ‘Ganda Cam’ searched around, and based on Vice’s decision, would choose the lucky winner. The first prize was to be given to the person sporting the Best OOTN (Outfit Of The Night). The 2nd item was given to a couple with the Best Kiss; while the 3rd was a smart phone given to the person with the Best Dalagang Pilipina pose. For the 4th and 5th prizes, laptops were bestowed to audiences with the Best Wacky Pose and the Sweetest Smile. Two television sets were distributed as the 6th and 7th prizes. The lucky 7 winners were then called and gathered on stage and were very excited to receive their gifts. However, the grand prize had to wait until the end of the show, something that Vice promised would change the life of the winner – which is a brand new car!
It’s Showtime’s Ate Girl Jackque Gonzaga and Stephen Robles also gave an all-out performance, dancing to BLACKPINK’S hit songs, while donning their cute black and pink outfits. They were playfully competing with each other during the production number, along with some of the It’s Showtime dancers. The host welcomed both of them on stage and started to tease Jackque about her love life. The Unkabogable Star asked her, “Kayo pa ba?” Taken by surprised, Jackque started giggling and said, “Lahat naman ng bagay naaayos. Pero hindi na katulad ng dati. Kasi ‘pag may lamat na, mahirap nang ibalik sa dati. ‘Pag mahal mo, ‘pag gusto mo, kasama naman ang nasusugatan ka at saka nasasaktan”. The crowd began to cheer following her comment, and Vice continued to laugh along with their inside joke.
Vice lauded them for what they did and, and even mentioned that ABS-CBN Executive Charo Santos had even took noticed of their talents and was quite impressed with them. Thus, he decided to train them further by making them perform scenes from the hit afternoon series Kadenang Ginto using funny pick-up lines. Jackque was tasked to be Cassie while Stephen had to portray the role of Marga. At their first try, Stephen made a mistake by calling Jackque by her real name, to which Vice jokingly reacted, “Teka lang. ‘Di ba Marga at Cassie? Napaka-simple ng instruction. Kayo pa mismo nagsabi si Marga ka tapos si Cassie siya. Tapos biglang ‘Jackque’”. Vice continued to urge them to be more aggressive towards each other during their skit. But in the end Jackie started to ‘flirt’ with Vice, therefore Stephen reacted by saying that despite her advances towards Vice, the latter continues to pick Kuya Escort Ion Perez over her. Vice was so bewildered by the comment and said out loud, “Ba’t kasali ako sa mga linya?!”
In another part of the anniversary show, Janine Berdin also graced the stage with her beautiful pink ball gown and sang her own rendition of the “Dalagang Pilipina” song. After her number, the TNT Boys hit the stage and sang “Pauwi Na Ako” by O.C Dawgs. Janine and the TNT Boys then collaborated on stage, and began to harmonize the hit “Lintik”. At the end of the number, the four didn’t fail to wow Vice and the audiences with their vocals. “Nakakaloka kayo. Ang galing galing n’yong gumawa ng mga versions,” Vice praised them.
Vice challenged them to do their own take of the song “Otso Otso.” Janine gave it a shot and utilized her strong pipes while adding some flare to the OPM song. The TNT Boys also took on the challenge. They of course were able to deliver a flawless number.
