Audiences are still on a high with what had transpired during Idol Philippines’ finale episode when Zephanie Dimaranan was hailed as the first ever grand winner. Vice Ganda welcomed the singing champion, along with the other finalists Lance Busa, Lucas Garcia, Dan Ombao, and Miguel Odron on Gandang Gabi Vice on its August 11 episode.
Zephanie opened the show with a powerful number, performing her own single “Pangarap Kong Pangarap Mo.” Vice asked her how she’s been since her big win. Zephanie replied that she still can’t believe that she made until the end of the contest. “Actually, hanggang ngayon po talaga, parang hindi po siya pumapasok sa akin,” she said smiling. She also shared that she dreams of collaborating with her idol Sarah Geronimo, and is hoping to do duet with the Popstar Royalty someday.
The GGV host wanted to test Zephanie’s capabilities and asked her to perform “Kilometro” while imitating the singing style of Moira dela Torre, KZ Tandingan and the Aegis. Zephanie started off by belting out her idol’s hit song, which she was able to do flawlessly. She then crooned her way into the audience’s hearts by copying Moira’s style. Afterwards, Zephanie did an impressive rap trying her best to be like the Asia’s Soul Supreme. And for the final round, Zephanie gave a jaw-dropping performance hitting the high notes the way Aegis would. Vice was surprised with how Zephanie mimicked all the artists, and could see the potential and versatility in her as well.
Lance Busa, Lucas Garcia, Dan Ombao, and Miguel Odron joined in the fun and talked about their lives after the competition. The Unkabogable Star wanted to see what else these talented guests could do. Lucas showcased that he could copy other artists’ singing styles and did some impersonations of Vina Morales singing “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” and Janno Gibbs with “Fallin”. Vice then made Lucas sing as Ogie Alcasid along with Zephanie, who pretended to be Regine Velasquez, and together they sang “Hanggang Ngayon”. Lucas then tried to impersonate Moira, looking very tired and sleepy then had a stronger voice when he turned into Jaya but he eventually gave up when he was made to copy Angeline Quinto’s style. Lance revealed that he was a very flexible person, and stretched his leg as far as placing it behind his head. And take note, he did this while singing a song. On the other hand, Miguel did something strange and showed Vice that he could purr like a cat.
Vice also asked all five of them what songs they would have sung on Idol Philippines, but weren’t given a chance to. Miguel said that he would have performed his original piece called “Follow” or “True Colors” by Sydney Lauper, which he sang in front of everyone. Dan’s choice was an original ballad called “Kayang Abutin” and the song “Makita Kang Muli”. He too did his own rendition of Sugarfree’s hit, which was a couple of keys higher than the original version. For Lance, if given the chance to perform again he would do “Maybe” by Neocolors. Up next was Lucas, who is a fan of the rock band Queen, ergo he did his own take of “Love Of My Life”. Finally, Zephanie disclosed that her choice would been “Masterpiece” by international star Jessie J, which she sang impeccably.
