Angelica Panganiban and John Prats shared how their friendship started – and it had something to do with Cristine Reyes’ powerful slap.
In case you didn’t know, Angelica and John’s sister Camille Prats used to be a tandem during their child star days. Angelica and Camille were best friends and they shared numerous projects together both on TV and cinema. Thus, John knew Angelica as Camille’s friend. But there was no instant connection.
Parang wala kaming pag-uusapan. Parang wala kaming something in common.”
Things changed when they became co-stars in Banana Split (later Banana Sundae) in 2009. On her part, Angelica said she was drawn to John’s corny jokes. John, in turn, got comfortable with Angelica when he ran to her after getting slapped by their co-star Cristine Reyes for a gag. He recalled, “Sinampal ako kasama sa eksena.
She continued, “Sabi niya, ‘Normal ba ‘yun? He butted in, “Nag-start na. Nagkwentuhan na kami.”
Same thing happened to Zanjoe Marudo when he joined the show. Kaya niya ‘yan.’ Tapos sinampal din malakas. Lapit din si Zanjoe, ‘Bakit gan’un? Bakit ang lakas?’”
“Unti-unti, nagiging kaibigan ko sila,” said Angelica.
