Following the controversial participation of Neil Salvacion, the ex-boyfriend of Miss Universe-Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo, in the Kumu auditions of the upcoming season of Pinoy Big Brother, FYE Channel’s The Best Talk host Boy Abunda shared his opinion about it and the “curse of the crown”.
In the recent years, we’ve witnessed the dramatic rise of Filipinas in the Miss Universe pageants as majority of them successfully made it to the top spots. At the same time, we also saw how the pursuit of their lifelong dreams, as well as other undisclosed reasons, caused the fall of the romantic relationships of some of our queens that prompted them to call it quits.
The King of Talk commended Neil for keeping mum during the height of the issue, yet implied how interested he is to find out his real intentions in joining the reality show. He also recounted a conversation he had with Rabiya, wherein she told him how her boyfriend of six years made her promise to not leave him even though she wins the crown.
As Tito Boy tackled the “curse of the crown,” he recalled the breakups of Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up Janine Tugonon, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray with their respective partners, and even gave an advice to those people who feel like already outgrowing their relationships.
“How do you solve that? You work at it. Alam mong mag-o-outgrow, you have to be creative, you have to be showy, you have to be in communication with each other as often as possible. You have to forgiving, you have to be mindful, you have to be understanding, you have to be cognizant of the reality that bith are not perfect, at maraming pang iba ‘yan,” he stated.
