Aside from her “rumored boyfriend” Joshua Garcia, Ria Atayde also had the chance to talk about her friendship with Kathryn Bernardo, who she described as her “favorite” as she played “Ria’s One Word” in her recent guesting in FYE Channel’s Pop Cinema.
She elaborated, “I’m so blessed to have found a friend that has the same love language as I do, because love languages really matter. So, we both like receiving acts of services and quality time, but we both like giving acts of service and gifts. So, gano’n kami pareho.”
Then she continued, “What’s funny pa about Kath was we didn’t like each other when we first met years, years, years ago before we got close. And then we worked together, and that’s when we were like, ‘oh my God, why did we just choose to be friends now, like we’ve been missing out with all of these, are you serious?’”
When host Bianca Gonzalez-Intal asked why they did not immediately become friends then, Ria recounted that both of them perceived one another as “suplada” on their very first encounter in London in 2015, when she visited her best friend Enchong Dee as he and other Kapamilya artists, including Kathryn, were part of the ASAP tour. Ria wasn’t an actress then and was still studying in Spain.
After so many years, they found out that both of them were actually just waiting for one another to reach out or approach then. As they got closer, they already had the confidence to confess that they initially did not like each other, which amazingly solidified their friendship as they started with misjudgment.
