In her four decades in the local entertainment scene, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has never failed to astound us with her exceptional talents, especially when it comes to singing. And in the recent years, she has filled our Sunday afternoon viewing with good vibes and entertainment through her ASAP Natin ‘To stint.
While she’s also talented when it comes to dolling herself up since she’s been accustomed to being the one who puts on makeup to and styles herself from the early years of her career, many of us are surely surprised to find out that she’s actually not skilled in driving.
In her guesting in CinemaOne’s Pop Cinema streamed on the FYE channel of video-sharing and social networking service KUMU, she answered a resonating “no” when hosts Bianca Gonzalez-Intal and MJ Felipe asked if she could drive.
“I am so bad at it. I’m so…'di ba kailangan ng matinding coordination sa driving kasi you’re doing everything at the same time? Wala ako no’n,” the 50-year-old OPM icon revealed that shocked the two hosts.
The Asia’s Songbird then went on to recall the moment when her husband Ogie Alcasid asked her to drive a golf cart and she accidentally hit someone. This revelation made the three of them erupt to boisterous laughter.
With that, Ogie even called her “you’re the worst driver in the world”. Since she easily gets panicky and disoriented whenever she’s behind the steering wheel, she accepted that driving really isn’t for her and that her dream of having her own Volkswagen beetle is already impossible.
Regine further divulged that whenever there were driving scenes in her past films, such as in "Dahil May Isang Ikaw" (1999), the vehicle she used had to be pulled in order for it to move and appear like she’s indeed maneuvering it.
She may not be able to drive, but Regine proudly disclosed that she’s good in riding a bike.
