Kapamilya star Joshua Garcia didn’t always set his sights on being an actor. In this Pop Cinema interview, he shares that he was more of a “live in the moment” kind of guy back then. So, after his stint on Pinoy Big Brother All In in 2014, he wasn’t actively seeking acting projects and just enjoyed being in the limelight.
However, after a year of being in showbiz, projects weren’t lining up for him anymore. It was a wake-up call that led him to seek ways to become a better actor. He decided to join workshops and paid for them with the minimal savings he had at that time. One of those workshops was with the veteran actor Pen Medina.
Joshua cites Pen as an amazing teacher that played an integral role in the actor he is today. The last time he was able to work with him was on the set of Ngayon at Kailanman. Joshua hopes that Pen saw how much he had improved, especially how the two of them could easily act out a scene as the lines and emotions have become second nature to them already.
Looking back on the beginnings of his career, award-winning actor Joshua admits that acting didn’t always feel like a natural talent to him. He describes his venture into acting, “Minahal ko lang talaga siya kaya naging para sa akin.”
