When they thought everything was falling in its perfect place and time has finally put their life in peace, the Vendetta was surprised by a sudden twist of fate. Their seemingly peaceful life in Santo Nino was shaken up by the sudden appearance of rebels. The rebels, led by brothers Tanggol (Joross Gamboa) and Baldo (Rommel Padilla), was ordered to forcefully take some citizens as workers in their illegal mining site. The order came from Don Emilio (Eddie Garcia) who is now disguised as Senyor Gustavo. This incident pushed the Vendetta to fight back which led to a serious gun battle.
Before the incident, the Vendetta has decided to bury their past and begin anew. They even bury their weapons; in full determination that they would no longer need them. Then, a romantic wedding between Romulo (Lito Lapid) and Diana (Angel Aquino) took place.
The Vendetta was taken by surprise as the rebels attacked Santo Nino. They were unable to save the kidnapped citizens but focused instead in fighting against the gunshots fired by the rebels. The Vendetta was almost outnumbered which caused some of their members to become wounded.
In the middle of the gun battle and while escaping from the rebels, Aubrey (Ryza Cenon) received a fatal shot fired by Baldo. Ex-President Oscar Hidalgo (Rowell Santiago) uttered his daughter’s name as Aubrey’s body slowly falls. He took Aubrey, in high hopes that his daughter is still alive. He tried to shake and embrace Aubrey’s body as close as possible. Yet, the blood dripping all over Aubrey’s body is enough to know that she is already lifeless. Oscar screamed his emotions out; echoing his daughter’s name.
The Vendetta was able to escape from the rebels and killed most of them. They brought their wounded members in a hospital and successfully saved their lives except for one – that of Aubrey.
Before he met the Vendetta, Oscar and his family were ambushed. This took the life of his wife, Marissa (Dawn Zulueta) and two children. He and Aubrey were the only survivors from the ambush. Since then, Oscar promised that he and Aubrey will never leave each other’s side again. They even had a sweet father-daughter moment as they danced during the Romulo-Diana wedding.
Now that Aubrey is gone, Oscar feels alone and that the pain is unbearable. Cardo (Coco Martin) also gets emotional as he watches Oscar silently mourns over the death of his daughter.
Memories of a complete and happy family drown Oscar’s mind. “Ano ba’ng kasalanan ko at kinuha Ninyo sa akin ang lahat. Wala na akong dahilan para manatili pa dito”, Oscar utters as he question God’s plans.
