Following her highly anticipated entrance in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano two weeks ago, fast-rising actress Jane De Leon enthusiastically talked about her exciting stint on the show through the virtual media conference held on Friday, February 5 and was livestreamed on the official YouTube channel and Facebook page of ABS-CBN Entertainment and Dreamscape Entertainment.
Hosted by Gretchen Fullido, the event was attended by several vloggers and members of the press, with ABS-CBN Media Relations Manager Aaron Domingo and AdProm Head Eric John Salut serving as the gregarious facilitators in the question and answer portion.
As she delighted us with her portrayals of Maggie Bartolome in the controversial series Halik and her other characters in Maalaala Mo Kaya and Ipaglaban Mo in the recent years, the 22-year-old actress described playing Police Captain Natalia Mante totally different – even to her much-awaited role as Darna. Thus, she’s happy to be given the opportunity to explore different characters.
Being one of the newest members of the ever-growing family of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano – along with Geoff Eigenmann, Vance Larena, Paolo Paraiso, Mark Mcmahon and AJ Raval– Jane disclosed that everyone on the program made her feel very much welcome, making it easy for her to get along with them while they’re inside their bubble.
Her character’s relationship with Cardo Dalisay (Coco Martin) may not be confirmed yet, but she’s thankful to those who have been rooting already for their team-up, which their fans fondly tag “Coco-Jane”. Furthermore, she described him as kind, gentleman, and very hands-on to everyone on the set, so the pressure she felt was immediately gone.
When asked what could be the reason behind the success of the series through the years, Jane regarded Coco’s brilliance as an actor and director.
As her conversation with Gretchen veered to her continuous workout even during their lock-in taping, she animatedly recalled the moment she first found out about her role as a sniper in the series.
And then suddenly pagdating ko po sa set, bigla po akong binigyan ng baril,” she narrated.
Little did we know that being part of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano is actually a dream come true for her as she used to only imagine the character she would take on.
“Oo naman po, naging pangarap. Na-imagine ko, ano kaya, if ever na maging part ako ng Ang Probinsyano, anong magiging role ko rito?” she enthused. “Kasi grabe nag-start ‘yon, 15 or 16 ako no’n. Abangan nating lahat.”
The question and answer portion wrapped up with Jane expressing her gratitude towards the people who have been unwaveringly supporting her ever since she began in the local entertainment scene.
