Kapamilya Spotlight: 6 things you may know yet about Lovi Poe

She may be the daughter of the one and only King of Philippine Movies Fernando Poe Jr., but Lovi Poe was able to carve her own path in the local entertainment scene and gain the admiration of many because of her captivating beauty, remarkable talent, and kind heart. Thus, she’s being referred to as the “Precious Jewel”.

The gorgeous showbiz royalty has been in the industry for 17 years already, yet it was only on September 16, 2021 when she officially became a Kapamilya. And now, her first-ever teleserye as an ABS-CBN talent is about to commence this coming weekend – the local adaptation of the popular South Korean drama “Flower of Evil” – which she headlines alongside Ultimate Heartthrob Piolo Pascual.

But before we get to see her in a different light through this much-awaited project, let’s get to know Lovi better through some of her appearances in Kapamilya programs.

She had her first ABS-CBN appearance when she was a teenager

Among her known interviews on ABS-CBN was in 2013 when she appeared in the now-defunct talk shows The Buzz Uncut and “Ikaw Na” segment of Bandila to not only promote her project then, but to also address some of the rumors she was involved in.

Besides, she shared as well how it is to be the daughter of FPJ, which according to her has its pros and cons. She honestly imparted how it inflicts pressure on her, yet she just chooses not to think about it. It was in that same program where she revealed that her first interview on ABS-CBN was when she was around 16 or 17 years old.

She had a lovely relationship with her dad

It was in her Showbiz Inside Report interview in April 2013 when Lovi opened up about her relationship with her dad when he was still alive. Perhaps unbeknown to many, she is his daughter with former actress-model Rowena Moran and was born on February 11, 1989.

She may have only spent a few years with her dad, but those were all worthwhile as she’s able to share beautiful and memorable moments together. She recalled that instance when she lost the camera that her mom gave to her as a gift and she sought the help of his dad, who quickly bought her a new one that’s exactly the same in order for her not to be reprimanded. Although it wasn’t really a big thing, she appreciated it so much as her dad showed up on the time that she truly needed him.

Thus, his passing on December 14, 2004 that she’s able to witness indeed pained her so much. As a way of being reminded of the relationship they used to have, she got herself tattooed with the words “My Wings”, “My Gravity”, and “Quiet Child”, but it was only the last that remained “because nobody knows the whole story, our whole story”.

She actually didn’t have any plan to join showbiz

It was also on that same Showbiz Inside Report interview when she revealed that she didn’t expect herself to enter the industry since her mom Rowena wasn’t keen with the idea of her doing so. But the opportunity knocked on her, so she grabbed it and took it as a way to prove something about herself.

In her Gandang Ganda Vice guesting in 2013, she disclosed that another thing her mom was used to being against was her accepting sexy roles and displaying her beautiful body, yet she eventually accepted it and let her do whatever she wants in her career.

She was also able to show her naughty and funny side as she accepted host Vice Ganda’s challenge for her to make one of the male audiences thrilled with her caress and to belt out Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life”.

She dreams of doing a remake of an FPJ movie

Da King had starred and produced innumerable films throughout his five-decade career, many of which were blockbuster hits. Thus, as her daughter who highly looks up to him, she actually dreams of remaking at least one.

In her guesting in Tonight With Boy Abunda in 2017, she conveyed that she actually dreams of remaking the 1986 movie “Batang Quiapo”, which also starred Maricel Soriano.

She has a tight bond with her half-sister Grace Poe

Lovi may not be able to spend much time with her dad when he was still alive, but her half-sister Grace Poe has been generous to pass on to Lovi the love FPJ poured onto her and they’re able to develop a beautiful bond since the first time their paths crossed.

In her Magandang Buhay guesting in 2019, the award-winning actress said that she’s been very thankful to her Ate Grace.

“I’m just very grateful to have her kasi sinabi ko rin sa kanya ‘yon before na parang although our parents are irreplaceable, there will always be that someone who can somehow fill that void at siya ‘yon. Kasi parang ‘yong pagmamahal na ‘yon na sana nakukuha ko from our Papa eh nakukuha ko from her. Parang ‘di ko ine-expect, given the situation,” she related.

Then she continued, “Hindi naman niya kinailangan gawin ’yon in the first place, pero the fact that she did it, talagang grateful ako because parang doon ko nakita na, ‘wow, someone up there is really guiding us’. Kasi doon mo makikita na parang God uses people ang instruments to make you feel that you’re loved even if you’ve lost someone.”

She’s a talented singer

Lovi may be admired for being a seasoned actress, but she’s a talented singer, too. She actually has two studio albums, two concerts, and a number of singles under her belt, and has exhibited her singing prowess in several shows, including ASAP Natin ‘To.

On her debut in the Sunday variety show on September 19, 2021, she was given a grand welcome by having Erik Santos and Gary Valenciano join her in a musical number.

She has returned a number of times since then, with her latest as her sultry production number last June 19 to promote Flower of Evil. She also joined Paulo Avelino, Richard Gutierrez, and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid in singing “Just Love Ngayong Christmas” in the ABS-CBN Christmas Special 2021.

Are you excited as us to see Lovi’s sure-fire performance in the upcoming series Flower of Evil? Well, you better not miss an episode of it once it begins this coming weekend, June 25 and 26, on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z Channel 11.
