By the time ABS-CBN announced the Philippine adaptation of award-winning Korean drama “Flower of Evil,” one of the many things fans looked forward to is lead star Piolo Pascual and Lovi Poe’s take on the iconic “swimming pool” scene.
Here’s the verdict: the actors and production did not disappoint. Their creativity is laudable, too. Check out the episode highlight and behind-the-scenes photos Lovi shared on Instagram!
The scene witnessed Jacob (Piolo) trapped at the bottom of a pool. His wife Iris (Lovi) came to the rescue and tried to unshackle his hands and ankle, then kissed him underwater.
On screen, all we see is the intense action and moving drama among the actors; off-cam, it takes a village and so much brilliance and hard work to pull off such a complex scene.
Director Darnel Villaflor shared snaps of their location fit for the scene’s grim and thrill.

In that empty pool, the magic happened. Lovi can be seen fake swimming in a harness (somebody had to lift and kick her feet for her) toward Piolo “without breaking character.” In the other sequences, the pool had to be filled up, so she had to swim for real and act underwater.
She described it as one of the most challenging sequences she’s done as an actress. Honestly, we can feel her passion for her craft.
Here’s a closer look at that kiss:

The next video shows Lovi trying to revive Piolo after saving him from the pool. Half of the challenge was to deliver a dramatic performance. And the other half was to endure the cold since they had to be showered with gallons of water before take. We feel the love and dedication these people put in!
