In the past four months, our Saturday and Sunday nights were indeed filled with fun, music, and excitement as Everybody, Sing! unleashed our innate love for music and singing, making it into arguably every household’s favorite weekly viewing habit.
But aside from providing us with unparalleled entertainment, it also displayed the unwavering and notable bayanihan spirit of us, Filipinos, as the players, tagged as “songbayanan,” go hand-in-hand to win the whopping jackpot prize that would be divided among them.
The well-loved community singing gameshow may have aired its season finale episode last weekend (October 9 and October 10), yet it ended in a really good note as the featured “songbayanan”, comprised by 100 survivors of Taal Volcano’s eruption in January 2020. It was the last in the “100 Songbayanan Special” series of its episodes that was taped before the COVID-19 pandemic and was aired starting last September.
Unlike the regular episodes that only had 25 players and Php 500,000 prize, it followed the original format with 100 players, Php 2 million jackpot prize, and five games with two rounds each prior to the jackpot round, making the special episodes a tad longer. The Taal Survivors were able to efficiently use the 77 seconds they accumulated from the previous rounds and took home the huge reward, which made everyone thrilled and jump out of sheer joy.
Aside from the kantahan, we were surely amused by host Vice Ganda’s chikahan and kulitan with some of contestants, and even celebrated the birthday of one of them, which coincided with the day when the aforementioned catastrophe took place.
The Unkabogable Star also had the chance to bond with the show’s dancers and resident band Six-Part Invention and the gorgeous dancers off-cam, as seen in the photos included in this behind-the-scenes gallery!
For sure, fans of Everybody Sing are now looking forward for the next season!
