Kapamilya Toplist: Vice Ganda’s impromptu song performances that amused us through the years

Aside from never failing to make us laugh with his hilarious punchlines and funny banters with his It’s Showtime co-hosts, Vice Ganda has also entertained us with his impressive singing skills that he’s able to showcase in his performances, may it be for a production number or impromptu.

And now that he’s hosting the much-awaited musical gameshow of ABS-CBN Everybody Sing, let’s revisit the 10 moments when he amused and astounded us with his singing chops that are definitely hard to forget in this episode of Kapamilya Toplist!

As the popularity of songstress Moira Dela Torre continuous to grow, a lot of Tawag ng Tanghalan contestants have used her LSS-inducing hits as their contest pieces. Thus, the Unkabogable Star also put his own spins on “Malaya” and “Torete,” which were both truly droll – lyrics-wise and the way he sang it.

Just in time for the Christmas season, he tried to rehash the Filipino Yuletide love song “Sana Nagyong Pasko” by changing its lyrics on the spot. He based the first syllables of each line to our local alphabet, abakada, which his co-host Vhong Navarro dictated to him consecutively.

Vice was also able to show his talent in impersonation when he sang “Wala Na Bang Pag-ibig” ala-Jaya, who was among the hurados on that certain episode and even helped him sing it. As he seemed to enjoy doing it, he went on to sing Jessa Zaragoza’s “Siya Ba Ang Dahilan” by also copying her voice. He went on to the same in another episode, wherein he sang the classic OPM song “Bakit Ikaw Pa” by mimicking the way Imelda Papin sang it.

He and Vhong then went to make us laugh when they did an on-the-spot skit on the TNT stage, wherein Vice acted and sang “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” as a baby, while Vhong served as the daddy.

As they talked about the 90s, the Phenomenal Box-Office Star suddenly belted out “Boy” by OPM icon Timmy Cruz. He actually didn’t memorize the song, but with the help of Tiyang Amy Perez, he was able to perform his soulful rendition of it.

After giving a remark on why there are people who make things complicated when there’s a simple way to do it, such as singing the songs of legendary Pinoy rock band Aegis, the madlang people were expecting for him to sing one of their hits. However, he used “Aegis” instead in a “knock-knock” joke by singing the alphabet and replacing the first two letters with it. As he seemingly attempted to escape the challenge of singing “Sayang Na Sayang” that he initially accepted, his co-host Anne Curtis persistently prodded him. He eventually gave in, but sang Manilyn Reynes’ “Sayang Na Sayang” instead on his first try, then Aegis’ “Sayang Na Sayang” but in the lower key.

Upon learning that the TNT contender that he and Vhong would interview in a certain episode is also a songwriter, the Unkabogable star also showed his amazing skill in composing as he’s able to come up with a full song on the spot while co-host Teddy Corpuz provided the melody by playing his guitar.

In another episode, he made our hearts flutter as he dedicated his performance of Basil Valdez’s “Ngayon At Kailanman” to his boyfriend Ion Perez and even changed the word “ngayon” with “Ion”, saying that he is his now and forever. He also made co-host Kim Chiu feel better by singing his special Tagalized version of the The Beatles hit “Hey Jude”, which reminded her that he will always have a friend in him in her bad times.

And finally, as a TNT contestant mentioned “mais” during the interview portion, he and Vhong thought of “knock-knock” songs wherein the said word could be heard.  Vhong’s entry was “Sa Isang Pangarap”, which was also the contender’s piece, while Vice had us waiting for “mais” to come up in the lyrics of “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal” by the Boyfriends, “Sana Maulit Muli” by Gary Valenciano, and “La Isla Bonita” by Madonna.

Catch Vice Ganda in the newest musical gameshow Everybody Sing, beginning this June 5 and 6 on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, and A2Z Channel 11!
