Is she joining Miss Universe? Liza Soberano sets things straight!

Power couple Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil had fun catching up with fans as they talk about their quarantine-born business, advocacies for Save the Children Philippines, Dolce Amore rerun, and more in this episode of Kapamilya Chat. Plus, Liza finally speaks up about the possibility of joining Miss Universe!

No doubt, Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil are two of the most gorgeous people on earth. But listening to their stories of keeping the quarantine days productive, it’s worth noting how their good hearts and wisdom make them even more beautiful individuals.

Liza advocates children’s rights as the newly appointed ambassador of Save the Children Philippines. People didn’t know that Liza has been silently supporting the organization since 2016 through its global campaigns, thus being officially part of it is a dream come true for her.

“I didn’t know that they have Save the Children here in the Philippines. When I heard about it last year, I wanted to be an ambassador,” she related. It was a blessing working with her Make It With You co-star Katarina Rodriguez, also an ambassador for Save The Children for three years now. It was Katarina who introduced Liza to the group.

Her boyfriend and fans are supportive of her advocacy, thus the plan to conduct another fundraiser through a virtual fan meet. Liza is busy organizing the said event and told fans to wait for further announcements.

The lovebirds are now business partners as well after launching their ethyl alcohol product. Enrique first introduced his own line of perfume in 2019. When the pandemic happened, he thought people need disinfectants more than perfume, thus the idea of creating their own alcohol product. The business also allows them to help others in need of jobs.

As soon as the pandemic ends, Liza wishes to travel to the United States to visit her family. She’s worried about them but thankfully most of them are already vaccinated. Enrique, on the other hand, has Africa on top of his bucket list.

As advice to everyone beating the boredom blues, Liza and Enrique talked about learning new hobbies or re-discovering those you once put on hold. They are not trying to downplay anxiety because they also knew how it feels. But they stressed the need to keep moving. They are currently trying to cope with all the changes and hopefully be completely adjusted soon.

“It’s very important to focus your energy on something that can inspire you. Maghanap ng bagong pagkakaabalahan and once you focus your attention into that one thing, you’d eventually forget in some sort of way whatever it is that is bothering you,” shared Liza, who swears by the uplifting powers of binge-watching her favorite series.

There are times, though, when they’d also run out of films and series to watch. With this, Liza is reminded of the power of entertainment. She said content was proven to be a big source of help in people’s mental health.

Liza also reacted to a recent social media post claiming she’s ready to join the Miss Universe pageant after Rabiya Mateo’s recent attempt to bring home the fifth crown for the Philippines. For years, there’s been a loud clamour for Liza to be a beauty queen.

The Kapamilya actress feels flattered hearing people’s encouraging words and expectations. But, to set things, straight, Liza said pageantry is not her thing. “I really don’t think it is for me because I get anxiety when I’m onstage. ASAP pa nga lang, sasayaw lang naman ako hindi naman ako magsasalita, grabe na ‘yung kaba ko. So, what more if it’s for Miss Universe? I just don’t think that I can give justice to everybody’s expectations.”

Enrique chimed in, saying Liza has what it takes. But the actress still won’t give in to everybody’s persuasion. Besides, she saw the struggles of a beauty queen after portraying Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach’s life story in Maalaala Mo Kaya.

“Na-experience ko ‘yung training at grabe ‘yung taas ng heels na sinusuot nila. Hindi ako sanay sa high heels, so when I tried the high heels, I was tripping all the time. So malamang ‘pag sumali ako sa Miss Universe, madadapa din ako sa stage,” shared Liza.
